Gary Anderson being above Barney I can get. There's little to separate them but their world titles really. It all comes down to likability here.

No, no, no, Headshaker must be in the top 5.The Thorn wrote: ↑Thu Oct 29, 2020 6:38 pm Their opinion also can be swayed by those factors. You are free to think Barney is top 5 and I don't see anything wrong with that but that doesn't invalidate our opinions whatsoever. Just because it's a popular opinion that doesn't make it right at all. I've heard these experts commentating enough, they are talking a lot of crap.
He once beat Ritchie Davis to win Lakeside.

Fair enough, I haven’t seen his poll. Have you got a link to it.sennafan24 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 29, 2020 6:31 pmWrong.HalloweenJack wrote: ↑Thu Oct 29, 2020 6:29 pm It’s not just casuals though is it. It’s ex players and commentators. I suspect current players also.
Nowhere else other than on here would Barney be outside the top 5
Mason ranked him 6th on his all-time list last year.
That’s one person though.

I’m certainly not trying to invalidate anybodies opinions, at the end of the day that’s all they are opinions. The Thorn wrote: ↑Thu Oct 29, 2020 6:38 pmTheir opinion also can be swayed by those factors. Usually in those you see loads of people voting, most of whom are just casuals, who of course admire Barney. His impact on darts is huge which influences a lot of opinions. Quality wise Gando is just better.HalloweenJack wrote: ↑Thu Oct 29, 2020 5:56 pmBut when he won his ‘other’ world title there wasn’t a huge gulf between the PDC and BDO.
Why is he in every poll you are likely to see in the top 5?

Re: The darts forum definitive all time top 20 -5th place poll
Both players peaked at different times and I agree with the timescales as to who was better. I just think that Barneys best beats Anderson’s best. I am sure you will agree that is hardly contrary or a controversial opinion.sennafan24 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 29, 2020 6:36 pmAnd?HalloweenJack wrote: ↑Thu Oct 29, 2020 6:31 pm Well we could look at their BDO careers. Barney has done far better. Anderson never won the worlds or the masters.
Anderson has won more PDC World titles, a Matchplay title, is ahead 23-19 in head to head meetings with Headshaker, and is 3rd all-time in terms of most wins on the Pro Tour. Anderson has also won the PL twice, whereas Headshaker only won it once.
Headshaker might have been better from 2001-2010, but Anderson has been better ever since and has had more success at the highest level. Thriving in the PDC in the 2010s is far more impressive than thriving in the BDO in the late 90s and mid-2000s.

I agree with you in that one. I think Adams is top 15 easily.
