In his prime, Tyson was a monster.
In that brief 3 year window he was a monster.
Had he tagged Ali he may have got him out of there but ali was in with some monster punches.
I'd have jack johnson up there.
Not a massive fan of Louis.

It's stupid to rate RVB over MVG btw.
MVG is already in the top 5 players of all-time. He'll probably end his career in the top 3.
RVB is massively overrated. Taylor was almost always better than him, even before RVB switched to the PDC.
Taylor and bristow are top 2
Below that it's a debate.
Taylor > Bristow > MVG/Lowe > Gando
There is my top 5.
The Headshaker can piss off.

He should have never left Kevin Rooney. It was downhill from there.

5 is maybe a little elevated for gando but I'm no fan of barney and his 4 fake world titles.
Jocky might sneak ahead of gando.

Holmes gets no credit but he was a damn good fighter

Holmes is the opposite of Tyson.
He was probably underappreciated for years. But now, a lot of people rate him in the 3 heavyweights of all-time.

He certainly isn't that
So many of the "greats" Louis, Marciano, Dempsey etc were just too small to have been competitive against modern giants

The first 4 are correct.
5th is a difficult choice. I think in the "Top 10 players of all time" thread, I did have RVB 5th.
As much as I liked Barney from the 90's till about 2014/2015, I might have to have a rethink and do a bit of research.

Yeah, 5th place is debatable.
I loathe the Headshaker these days, mind. It's reasonable to argue that he should be 5th. But higher than Taylor, Bristow, MVG and Lowe? No chance.

He would have been a light heavy/cruiser weight now

Boxing now you are talking.
All time toP 3 heavyweights in my opinion ( I’m basing this on who beats who prime)
1) Ali 1964-67 version
2) Lewis
3) Liston
Mike Tyson whilst brilliant for a short time is vastly overrated imo.

I think with Barney, it comes down to how much people value his 4 Lakeside wins. At least when he won those 4 titles, it wasn't an absolute shambles like it has been for the last decade or so.
But agreed, he'll never be above those 4.

That jab though. He was the most intimidating fighter ever in my opinion. He would have been world champion earlier if he had been given his title shot.
