The Thorn wrote: Sun Jul 26, 2020 8:31 pm Lewis' peak was higher than Wade's, but over a long time consistently Wade was the slightly better player. That's why one has more majors but the other more worlds. I think that's clear. Who was overall the better player is down to preference I think. People usually make their all time lists based on achievement, not on pure ability, and thus Lewis has to rank higher, 2 world titles to zero, simple.
It shouldn’t just be about that though, consistency, more time at the top and even head to head ( especially as they are comparable players, it’s not like one was on a decline)If Wade had of won windgate it’s 1-1 for world titles. I’m assuming Wade beats Hamilton in the final. There wouldn’t even be a debate and Wade would by everybody be ranked higher. So for some people, one match has decided who is higher between 2 players.
I still think it’s a good debate and not as clear cut as you make out. As it stands now, I would think it mor likely Wade will win another major before Lewis.
"What if" isn't an argument either. One has two world titles, the other has none. Yeah, in that case that one game gets to decide it, tough luck. If Barney doesn't beat Taylor in 07 in a deciding leg, he'd be a few places down on everyone's list. I can keep making up imaginary situations but let's stick with the facts. I wouldn't rank Cross for example above Wade obviously (even if he could well end up with more majors than Lewis) but 2 world titles to 0 is just too much of a gap.
Whilst I can see your argument, I believe I make valid points as to how Wade “could” be ranked higher than Lewis. I have seen and shared a couple of polls where Wade is in the all time top 10 I have said he could be anywhere between 8-12
As SAFC stated earlier, no one can ever win these arguments as they are all subjective and about opinions.

In my opinion, Duzza is a tosser.

I'd rather Dimi won but more importantly I just want to see a close game.
The truth, however ugly in itself, is always curious and beautiful to seekers after it.
