Didnt help that they didnt start until about 25 mins into the fucking programme and then had a similar length break in the fucking middle. Ad breaks are for breaks, why the need for a long one as well? Ridiculous.
Big changes on the way ! We've heard it before but it's different this time !!!! , I believe Bdo gonna grow x

In terms of standard, the tournament was perhaps a bit better than expected. The final, semi-finals and last 16 stages were all passable for the most part. Still, the first round stage was atrocious, and the QF stage was poor other than the Mitchell/Waites game.

The presentation, however, was appalling. It could not have been much worse. The graphics, the commentary, the crowd, etc.

Overall, despite there being some decent matches, it was a shitshow.

I think if this tournament continues then the first thing they should do is get rid of the first round - 8 unnecessary matches that they never used to do anyway.

I thought the presentation was very good - decent backdrop for the darts board, graphics ok, excellent presenter and commentary team, crowd when they were there looked as though they were actually interested in the darts, as opposed to the PDC mob who only go along to get pissed up anyway.

Agreed, the length of this tournament is bloated and a relic of the past.

If it has any future, surely 16 x male and 8 x female players is the way forward. Start Thursday, quarters Saturday, semis early Sunday followed by the final.

In the right venue that would still pull quite a crowd in, especially full weekend tickets. Could go to the whole comp with just two days’ holiday.

Excellent presentation and commentary?
Smith clearly didnt give a shit and gwynne and Nicholson were horrendous?
The set up was ok I'll give you that.
The crowds, again I'm not sure what you were watching but players families and hangers on aside this was a pdc rent a mob crowd

Very nearly managed to fill a hall half as large as the one they used to fill, it did.

Under no circumstances can Paul Nicholson commentary be considered excellent. Thats like the famous Dianne Abbott quote about Chairman Mao doing more good than bad.

The camera work and graphics were also horrendous, how many times did they display the wrong player picture

Bumpity bump bump
If BDO had money why would they hold back payment on 20k or so to a production company? That is a pittance really not worth lost sleep.

The last published accounts have the best part of £800k on the Balance Sheet mate. Will take a while to spunk that and don't forget they get revenue in from county and superleague which is pure profit as there's no cost attached
I understand this.

But I've read that these vanity events that the BDO run cost 6 figures plus. If they had 800k in say early 2018, and have ran 6 vanity events since then, then their finances will be running out quickly.
The £800k was as at May 2018, post WDT so 2018 Masters, 2019 Lakeshite are the events included in the May 2019 Accounts which we won't see till February. Worst case there's still £500k cash and that's being very harsh as Potter pretty much covered Lakeshite. Post May 2019 is the interesting one as it takes some doing to spunk £500k in a year.

EDIT: That doesn't mean Uncle Des is incapable of making a total dog's breakfast out of this
those numbers are surprising to me and makes it even more remarkable that they continuously manage to make a joke of their brand. There must be a genuine opportunity there to make decent money if it was put into competent hands even in today's climate.
Has to be recognised that they received a bucketload of cash from the Sale of Pages Lane. It won't last forever
