A mental titan he is not.
He should have been at least 8-2 up after the first two sessions.

Mental midget Smith might fall over the line some day is he ever admits to himself he is a top 10 player, he genuinely thinks he is the second best in the world and that's where his problems start soon as he isn't ploughing through someone he feel the need to start the "this is a joke, how am I not winning easy" routine and gets petulant and embarrassed. He cares too much what other people think too, every interview I see him do he makes reference to what reactions the stuff he said in his last interview got.
Spot on , people on here say he is arrogant , he isnt , hes a sensitive soft shite with issues. Anyone who plasters themselves with tatoos and is 5 stone overweight has issues , self harm , lack of confidence etc .

Cool, so how many grands shall I put on MvG to lose?
The same number I put on White to beat Wade last week?
I should sue...
If you put too much on the bookies get the hump and they change the ending. :D
Correct...I never said that one was a filmed job..spoiler ... told you 2 advance results that weren't favourite the week before and that 80/1 shot Gayboy made the final but didnt win...what more do you want?

Exactly, he thinks he is the better player, and in truth he is.
His exasperation evident in his onscreen comments.
Unfortunately for him, the game isnt played in his head its played on the board

He thinks acting like that, which is all completely on purpose for the cameras by the way, validates him as the better player without ever having to prove it on the dartboard.

People like to do the "Weeelll, Smith IS the better player but...." thing, but no. He might have more explosiveness, but he wishes he has 1/10th of Duzza's composure in big games and bottle under pressure. To claim he's better than a guy who can actually hit winning doubles for big titles in front of TV cameras, and has actually beaten MvG in a big tournament under massive pressure is an absolutely ridiculous statement to make.

Until he can prove those things, he can fuck right off with his arrogance. I'm embarrassed for him.

He has more natural ability than Duzza, but I reckon Duzza is more likely to win a tv major before Smith. You can argue who the better dart player is but mentally Duzza is far superior to Smith.

On pure natural ability it's not a question but that counts for shit if he cant bring it when it matters.
Glendas remorseless d16 hitting broke him but his head was gone at 6-4.
A bizarre capitulation

Every player, even Taylor, has a breaking point where they no longer have the will to continue.

But Smith seemingly can reach his breaking point while actually winning a game. Do any players past or present share that characteristic? Maybe the most broken versions of Barney would do it.

Always thought that Smith was bound to win one and that Duzza would fall short before fading away, but now I'm not so sure. Still don't think Duzza will win a big one, but on the evidence of that, he's got more of a chance than Smith in the next few years

Smith doesn't like someone giving him a game because he thinks he has some divine right to win majors. Until he learns that life doesn't work like that, which I hope he never does, he will win absolutely nothing of note.

Some of the videos I've seen of him and Gurney are embarrassing, he's desperate for validation, claiming that the World Youths counts as a TV title (even Dimitri can win that, fella!), and that he'd have won the Matchplay if Gurney had got over the line against Cross

Basically, he wanted to back up all the shit he'd been talking about him with an absolute spanking. When it became evident that wasn't going to happen, he started the pantomime act to try and make everyone believe this was his worst performance ever and it was a massive shock he wasn't whooping him.

He didn't actually truly give up until very late in the game, he just started the theatrics early because he couldn't validate himself as miles better than Glen on the actual dartboard.

I'd like to find Wright watchable, but there's such an inevitability about him that I just want him fucked out of every tournament asap. Can Duzza do that? On form he shouldn't, but you never know, Duzza has a magical ability to turn his opponents into shit, and Wright might fuck around with his darts yet again
