Re: Lakeside 2024 Ticket Sales
Probably minus 20% VAT, but it is good to see that they already have sold a lot. Read some conflicting numbers about how many fit in Lakeside, around 1000 or around 1400. If its 1400 the finals will probably cover about 1/3 of the prizemoney.

Re: Lakeside 2024 Ticket Sales
Update after a couple more months have passed. I think the prize money may be higher this year than last, depending on the appetite of the WDF to set expectations for the future. Weekend and Thursday/Friday numbers are good for this far out, other weekdays are, as ever, poor:

16 for the Tuesday evening!!!!!!
If ever there was an argument to just make this event a 3/4 day thing over a weekend, there it is above.

Probably best to just shut it down at this point. Modus do a far better job for the amateur game. The Ginge Reaper wrote: ↑Fri Jul 19, 2024 1:13 pm 16 for the Tuesday evening!!!!!!

Re: Lakeside 2024 Ticket Sales
I don't disagree, it could clearly still function with a decent crowd as a short sharp 16 man/8 woman event held over maybe 4 evenings and 2 weekend daytimes though.
Men L16 and Women's L8 on Thursday and Friday night (6 games each night)
Men's L8 and Women's semis on Saturday (3 games in afternoon, 3 in evening)
Men's semis Sunday afternoon (shove a Youth final in if you must)
Both finals Sunday night.
There we go, I've fixed it. Someone tell Nick Rolls.

Re: Lakeside 2024 Ticket Sales
Does anyone know the extent to which Lakeside has been a big money loser for the WDF?

Re: Lakeside 2024 Ticket Sales
Suspect it isn't, it's either money in money out (with all the entry fee suppliments worldwide paying for it), or the venue is stumping up.sennafan24 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 19, 2024 1:49 pm Does anyone know the extent to which Lakeside has been a big money loser for the WDF?

Re: Lakeside 2024 Ticket Sales
I can see why they made the field bigger, they want to incentivise players to play the tour throughout the year and accumulate points even if they’re not at the level of let’s say someone like Baetans. With a small world championship field people probably wouldn’t bother throughout the year

Re: Lakeside 2024 Ticket Sales
I think the 3-year deal negotiated by the WDF means that they take the gate money, Lakeside takes the hospitality and programme sales. So if they are careful it should not be a loss-maker, and I would imagine is the opposite. I can't see them shortening it, as the prize money comes straight from ticket sales, and given they've raked in more than £60k on the first weekend already (4 months to go), losing that would weaken the attraction to players and the already diminished status of the event. The Ginge Reaper wrote: ↑Fri Jul 19, 2024 1:51 pmSuspect it isn't, it's either money in money out (with all the entry fee suppliments worldwide paying for it), or the venue is stumping up.sennafan24 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 19, 2024 1:49 pm Does anyone know the extent to which Lakeside has been a big money loser for the WDF?

If no-one is losing money and they don't care about getting paid to put it on television then why would they reduce it? May as well puff it up to be as fat as possible for what malt said.

Re: Lakeside 2024 Ticket Sales
Yeah probably regions demanding that they get spots, because why would they otherwise pay the players levy. I assume Lakeside wants its rooms full and a lot of audience, and more players will do that. They get rooms filled in a otherwise slow period.TheMalteseDart wrote: ↑Fri Jul 19, 2024 2:41 pm I can see why they made the field bigger, they want to incentivise players to play the tour throughout the year and accumulate points even if they’re not at the level of let’s say someone like Baetans. Ok try and tell other orgs that there places have gone. WDF would lose its prime function. Its bulit on 48 for many players from different nations to have players involved as they pay into the systemThe Ginge Reaper wrote: ↑Fri Jul 19, 2024 1:46 pm I don't disagree, it could clearly still function with a decent crowd as a short sharp 16 man/8 woman event held over maybe 4 evenings and 2 weekend daytimes though.

Re: Lakeside 2024 Ticket Sales
There are plenty of nations involved. WDF isn't the BDO its serving not as a to "Compete" with the PDC but to serve its members by offering spots in their system so the players from other countries don't have to break the bank and come to a western europe orientated tourTheMalteseDart wrote: ↑Fri Jul 19, 2024 2:41 pm I can see why they made the field bigger, they want to incentivise players to play the tour throughout the year and accumulate points even if they’re not at the level of let’s say someone like Baetans. Re: Lakeside 2024 Ticket Sales
If you bring it to 40M and 20F you could drop the afternoons on mon, tue and maybe wed. Those sessions hurt the product, and the screensshots will be shared on social media.
Does anybody has a clue where they gonna fit those 4 extra boys and 2 extra girls matches? They have added a Friday evening at the start, but i cant see them being played then because of the costs for the youth.

Play anything before L16 men and L8 women behind closed doors before the event.oche balboa wrote: ↑Sat Jul 20, 2024 10:37 amOk try and tell other orgs that there places have gone. That 9940 for 401 tickets at the second Saturday seems wrong, or am I missing something
