I view elite players as the ones that can be reasonably thought of as likely title contenders at the beginning of big tournies.
So no I view him as elite, even thought I love him.
I have a similar definition
Elite is the highest class to me
Therefore it includes about 4-6 players usually

I agree with Malt that Boulton would probably not do any massive damage but just qualifying for Worlds and being around the top 64 and possibly keeping your card is a big achievement in my book. When you consider the quality of players even outside the top 64 I think we are often too harsh on these players. They are the elite 128 in the world after all.
Usually 4-6. Sometimes 128

I also don't think making the top 6 of the OOM alone means a player is elite.
Wes Newton was ranked in the top 6 of the PDC OOM once upon a time. Yet I never considered him elite due to his absence of TV titles.

So Andrew Gilding is elite as he has won a TV major?

You need to do it on TV
Chisnall is 5th in the 2023 rankings but only because of Pro Tours

6 Euro tour titles should count for something imo. Is it correct to say only MVG and Wright have more?

I'm quite stingy in who I define as elite.
