Re: Is Dave Chisnall an elite player?
I define elite as top 4 or top 8 player
So at the moment no due to ominous TV record
There were some points in time where he was definitely elite (almost topping the PL league phase comes to mind)

elite
/ɪˈliːt,eɪˈliːt/
noun
1.
a select group that is superior in terms of ability or qualities to the rest of a group or society.
How can you be in the top 10 in the World at something and not be in that category?

Thing is this has come from Oche in the other thread saying Chizzy isn't an elite player, but in the tournament he beat MVG he got to the semi final and was seeded 8th.

100% an Elite player.
On his day capable of beating any other player as evidenced by him thrashing MVG 5-0 whilst averaging over 107 in the 2020/21 World Championship Quarter-Finals.

Pretty much only losing to elite players. Wright, Wade, Jose, Chizzy, Price etc. Nothing to see here

I view elite players as the ones that can be reasonably thought of as likely title contenders at the beginning of big tournies.
So no I view him as elite, even thought I love him.

Chizzy is capable of playing the highest standard of darts at times, but is rarely consistent and so far not consistent enough to win TV majors despite the European Tour wins.

Re: Is Dave Chisnall an elite player?
Depends on how you define elite. The actual definition of elite is quite vague and leaves room for personal preferences.
There have been periods where Chizzy has been among the top 5 performing players in the world. The 2015 PL comes to mind, or some runs in non-TV events.
All that accounted for, he's never won a PDC TV event and hasn't been ranked in the top 5 in the OOM since 2013. So in general, I do not rate him among the elite.

Re: Is Dave Chisnall an elite player?
To be at the top end as long as he has, certainly an argument but until he wins a major there will always be a debate
