LEIGHTON BENNETT KLAXON!!!!
He's a end or at least he was. His management must take part of the blame for encouraging the on stage antics of a player so young.
He was like it against Charlie Large in Lakeside world youth final. Charles took everything in his stride and beat the fucker. Charles won the youth event at Yarmouth at the weekend. What a talent.
Friday 19th May 2023 - Finally free of the bull shitting no mark of a dart player.
Suspect team: CT1 Filip Sebesta - Greg Ritchie - Jeroen Mioch - CT2 Sean Fisher - Charlie Martin - CT3 Owen Bates - CT4 Thibault Tricole

The weather being horrendous during parts of the 2010 PDC Worlds.
Oh yes. Randomly I remember they showed Nichoo in the players' lounge or whatever with a plate of chilli and rice. He'd arrived late and his game was delayed or moved to a different day, not sure. Snow chaos.

A lot of darts fans at Alexandra Palace during the 2012 PDC World Championship dressed up as the late Jimmy Savile, who had recently passed away on 29 October 2011.
That's British humour in a nutshell.
Jesus turned up one year. The crowd constantly chanting "Jesus! Jesus!" It got so loud during Phil Taylor's match he looked to see what all the commotion was. Shortly after security escorted him from the venue.
Jesus will one day return again...

Jesus is already among us mate. He ordered a Chinese tonight
The truth, however ugly in itself, is always curious and beautiful to seekers after it.
Good question. Back then I was out most nights playing in darts leagues, comps or with mates, so would've seen some matches in a boozer.
I checked the '94 draw bracket and nothing comes to mind. I definitely watched it. Especially the final, though didn't have Sky sports at home at the time.
The '94 BDO World Champs is a different story. I seem to remember everything from looking at the draw bracket. Then again it was a time when I recorded all darts on tv onto VHS and watched over and over.

The first one. Dennis Priestley vs. Jocky Wilson, although Jeff Stelling called the latter "Jocky Brown". A damn good match too.
Impressive. Have you read Sid's 'Bellies and Bullseyes'? There's a great bit in that about the launch.
I have. Sid watched it at a friend's pub, if I remember right, half hoping that it would be crap and nowhere near as good as the BBC. Instead, it was brilliant production and left Sid feeling as sick as a chip that he wasn't there and was to commentate at Lakeside the following week instead.

Andy Smith in I think 2007 playing Asian qualifier Shi Yongsheng beating him to nil then having a rant in his interview about the poor quality of the players from Asia etc getting into the worlds.
What a pair of cunts
If I remember right Smith said it was embarrassing having to play him.

Although the first PDC game I recall loving was the Priestley vs Manley semi-final in the same tournament.
Cracking game.
I've worked out that the first Worlds game I recall loving was Harrington v Scholten, a QF on New Year's Day 2001. Roland was proper acting the dick and God was in a foul mood.
I first watched PDC darts in 2003 (Grand Prix I think) so the 2004 World's would have been my first. Although none of it was live in Australia. They showed 2 hour highlights packages weeks later.
Looking through the First Round names such as Ritchie Buckle (Uncle Fester), Barry Jouannet and Robbie Widdows are familiar so my first match probably involved one of them.

I have a vague memory of watching that game too. I think it was acknowledged on commentary that Scholten was slowing things down on purpose, or something along those lines.
However, there are games from that timeframe I have zero recollection of. For example, the Manley vs Lloyd semi-final in 2002.
The day the world stood still:

Okay, I stand corrected.
I remember watching the highlights of the 1994 PDC Worlds on Sky in the morning while playing on my Game Boy, Don't recall much about Lakeside during that year but i remember being surprised there was 2 world champions or and Martin Adams looked like IRA leader Gerry Adams

I think it was being acknowledged on comms yes. I think this is the game where Harrington kicked the table. Sid used to mention it sometimes.
Roly's slow play seemed extreme and scandalous to me as I'd never seen anything like it, plus God was my fave player. Here he is celebrating that win, boom:

This guy was a legend, Story was that he bought a set of darts from a car boot sale for 50 pence and they were the same ones he used throughout his career.

The Horse! I remember him. A regular at PDC tv events for a time. He died in 2014.

Yep thats him, I had the pleasure of playing him in the 1998 Yorkshire Classic, I remember it so well as I had possibly the worst hangover of my life, I somehow managed to play 2 great games of darts finishing the 2nd round one with a 167 finish then I ran into an on form Reg Harding and that was where my run in the singles come to an end, Possibly by then I had started to sober up haha, He used to sit playing cards with Peter Evison and a few others between matches and without much practice at all would throw 140 after 140, Great player.
