Re: Sets or Legs?
Sets are nice to me mainly because they're an alternative; only the Worlds and the Grand Prix use it. Legs are better.
I've made a remark on why Sets in itself don't make matches more exciting to watch because 'it's easier to come back' and I'll say again that almost all the matches that are won by legs are also won in a set system. So it doesn't seem to matter. Psychologically maybe.
Or in other words: close matches in sets would also be close matches in legs.

I prefer legs. I agree that set play events are interesting because of the variety they offer, I wouldn't want much more of them. It might be easier to make a comeback in set play but it's also easier to get into a big lead by the same argument.
The truth, however ugly in itself, is always curious and beautiful to seekers after it.

That's about right. The opposite used to true. Until the UK Open came along, the only legplay darts on the telly was the Matchplay.
Worlds, Grand Prix, Lakeshite and Masters were all sets. As was the Vegas Desert Classic. Even the early Players Championships used sets... people were probably fantasising about legplay back then. Variety is the answer.

I'd like to see it mixed up a little bit more though I'm not sure howRogg wrote: ↑Sat Nov 14, 2020 10:29 pmThat's about right. The opposite used to true. Until the UK Open came along, the only legplay darts on the telly was the Matchplay.

You could throw out ideas but they sound gimmicky

Yes, and the Masters should be Set Play throughout.
