Tinkering
I've been chucking darts for around 20 odd years now and my game has pretty much come as far as it can average wise. I've always tinkered around with certain aspects of my game i.e. grip, stance, etc, but always tried to keep the changes to a minimum. Whatever small changes I make I still pretty much play at the same level. Recently I've had a complete overhaul of my throw, and really feel it can only improve my game but it obviously still feels quite alien and I am struggling to maintain my decentish (for me) 3 dart average. Have any of you guys ever tried a completey new throw, and if so after working past the initial newness of it found it has upped your level at all?

Re: Tinkering
this is somthing i need to look at aswell.some of my darts go into 12 and 5 so i looked at my stance,my toe was facing the 12 so i started to point my toe straight at the 20,its worked upto a point but the odd dart still drifts into the 12 but theres deffo improvment.so now i need to look at my body posture, think posture has a lot to do with it aswell.can anyone give me a bit advice.thanks

Re: Tinkering
I have a similar problem and worked out that my style of throw naturally points the dart to the left. So to compensate I stand slightly left of centre on the Oche which forces me to throw to the right. So far I've seen an improvement so am gonna persist with it.
When you actually feel anger over a place like this it's time to get a life

Don't get excited this isn't a dart related post...M H wrote:I have a similar problem and worked out that my style of throw naturally points the dart to the left. I find MH's advice useful to those that hang to the left, standing slightly right of the pan helps to prevent splash backs.

I totally altered my throw about a year ago & my average vastly improved.

I'm pretty shit nowadays and no amount of throw altering seems to change this despite the hours I put in.
I still beat my mates though so that'll do for now.

Tinkering with stances, flights, stems, throws, etc is what i constantly do. I don't think i've ever kept the same thing for more than a few months.

Christ I posted this ages ago and thought no one answered because it was a darts related thread.

Nah. You live in the south. It's a statistical impossibility.
