I am very sorry to hear that. I was brought up in the Presbyterian tradition but have since moved away from labels; they are not that important. I do not have much time for the Anglican system either. All I look for is that a person's beliefs be genuine and well reasoned, not simply designed to control and extort like the Catholic system. Beliefs must be genuine and if they are following genuine orthodox teaching, the results will be clear.

Religion in itself is poison. The 'religion' of Christianity has become so far removed from what it once was. Islam is the same. However, unfeigned belief and practice without religiosity can be of merit. I try to teach folk through the week what I belie the meaning of life is. Religion doesn't come into it. A man like Henry is a good example of what Maniac is speaking off. A bigot. The guy was not a true follower of Jesus. Plenty have followed him in using religion to suit an agenda.

The Jehovah Witnesses I cannot speak for. I have debated with them in the past and have never been convinced by their wishy washy version of things.

Your last point is interesting. I don't see any reason to believe in what Scientologists do. I have my reasons for believing in a supreme creator. I find the cumulative case for a God convincing. I will happily expand on that if you wish and if not I have no problem with that.

This first point is important. I have no reason to get rattled. You believe what you want, that is your right. For me, or another believer to get rattled is absurd. Just as you suggest you can comment on the "absurdity of religion", that means I can comment on the absurdity of atheism. There must be mutual respect between the two camps. Both should be able to comment on each other's stance without descending into chaos.

There is some good people in the world and most of them religious, and thats fine, each to their own, however if your faith in the God you truly believes exist is as strong as most claim, them the opinions of others should not matter.
