Re: Sydicate - Events to bet on
PDC World Matchplay, obviously.
Like Dicie said, there can be value to the high checkout bets, especially when a first round match can last in theory for over 40 legs or longer

There is value everywhere Snake, thats why they are called bookies, to entice you in thinking that something somewhere is over priced.Snakehipsx2 wrote:Any sport where there is a bet that a member deems to be good value.

Just don't want us to stick rigidly with certain events. Bookies are far less likely to make a rick in a high profile event than they are in, say for example, the 4.15 at Redcar this afternoon.

Re: Sydicate - Events to bet on
I spoke yesterday to Sprocket bout this, iv no problem with someone like you giving a tip, as i said you know your stuff, and this isnt anything against anyone in the syndy, but, take a normal saturday in the bookies / pub with the racing on, how many tips wud u be getting on a normal day.... I know with me, its at least 3 or 4 times a day, people i work for might have a small stake in a horse and fancy it, people i play darts with might have heard something, family members are into racing and so on.
I would put forward a suggestion, that we take 1 persons advice on horse racing, and that be you. Up to everyone else what they think.

I personally wont be tipping on random events as being honest I'm what I'd call a mug punter. I know Snake studies a lot before betting as do others and am more than happy for those to lead

Re: Sydicate - Events to bet on
I know what you mean but I'm no expert on the nags, I know enough people who talk sense though and don't do so bad. For syndicate purposes I wouldn't be a fan of backing too many horses or dogs but from time to time the odd gem comes up and it'd be a shame to miss it.
One of my particular favourites is lower league football, often get good info regarding teams missing key players due to injury / work commitments / club not paying them etc ....... I have had 9 maximum bets on these in the last 15 months and have a 100% record (shortest price 4/6 biggest 5/2).

Re: Sydicate - Events to bet on
I don't think anyone will tip 'randomly'. As I said yesterday, several members will sit back and let others do the selecting. And this is absolutely fine.
We've a good bunch of lads here and noone would tip randomly just so they could feel 'involved'. If I wasn't a gambler and had joined this, I'd be more than content to sit back and watch others do the work.
However, everyone should feel comfortable about offering a tip if they wish and that is why I said there should be a paragraph of reasoning behind it rather than just selection and time.
Majority rules in this - we should not be rigid or dictatorial about who can do what. The vote will always give us the final answer.

Re: Sydicate - Events to bet on
I will be honest and say I am not an experienced gambler by any stretch. But have noticed the odd thing leap out in the past two weeks or so. Murray was 3/1 to drop a set and win his Miami QF, for instance, that just leaped out at me.
As did yesterdays Newcastle/Liverpool match, just wish I had put something on it, 12/5 looking back at it now were insane odds.

If I come across something yes I'd mention it here and why. If the majority disagree I'd have no problem as I don't think a syndicate's a place for egos.Sprocket501 wrote:I don't think anyone will tip 'randomly'. I dont think anyone is trying to dictate who or what people can bring to the table, but there has to be some guidelines, or we could find ourselves voting on 12 horse races some saturday. . .Sprocket501 wrote:I don't think anyone will tip 'randomly'. I think there is only Snake and I that do the horse and I only act on info given to me.
Therefore, only Snake would bring any horse tips to the syndicate and as he says, he won't be doing that many.

Golf and football wud be the 2 sporting areas i try and leave my bets to, of course tv darts is another, just not premier league darts as such, i do have some fun bets. But i always aim myself towards the majors in golf, there is money to be made there

Re: Sydicate - Events to bet on
Some questions / suggestions:
Have we decided when we're starting this?
When we have collected the "pot" should we decide on a staking system? - I'm happy to come up with a suggestion on this based on the total bankroll which I think everyone should agree/disagree with and in turn suggest amendments as they see fit.
@ Sprocket, is it OK if I just transfer my £50 to you via PS or would you prefer me to bank it?
I noticed somewhere along the line someone suggesting opening a betfair account, while this is a fine idea the value quite often lies elsewhere when you take into account commission so I don't think we need be rigid in this regard. I'm happy enough to place bets on our behalf with the biggest price bookmakers as and when necessary if everyone is OK with this. #also betfair take a cut of any deposit, cunts #

Re: Sydicate - Events to bet on
I will post up the offers from online bookies. Bet 365 have a great sign up bonus, same as powers have a £50 match bet thing and so on. Once we have a bank account sorted for this we shud be able to move the cash around freely enough.

Re: Sydicate - Events to bet on
I'd suggest using the sign up bonuses as a fail safe in two horse races so to speak. Say a match at Wimbledon, put the cash on the favourite and the freebie on the money against opponent. Can't lose
