Euro 2012 Discussion

Post by Dicie » Fri Mar 30, 2012 10:17 am

Was thinking i might throw it out there.

Would any of you lot be interested in me starting up a sweep ? £5 per team, winner takes 70% R up 30%

This would have to be based on trust. Because all money would have to be posted directly to the winner as soon as the comp is over.

I'm in Dicie.

Although rather than a sweep, how about a betting competition where the one that wins the most 'points' to a level stake wins.

If you had time to do that, it would be fantastic. Everyone has a virtual £1 to bet on every match - include match result, overs/unders etc.

Just a thought. I'd offer myself but June is very busy for me - happy to help in other ways if possible though.

As far as the money goes, someone trustworthy could hold it in a paypal account and then forward it to the winners.

Again, just an idea.

I might be able to do it. My idea is simply to list the day's matches each day with a couple of markets - using prices from an agreed Bookie.

Eg:

France v England

France 4/6
England 2/1
Draw 3/1
Over 2.5 goals 6/5
Under 2.5 goals 4/6

Everyone has £1 (virtual) to place on this game and every one of the others (52 games I think).

Would be far more interesting than a random sweep but as you say, very time consuming for the organiser.

Must be some dole scum on here with time on their hands... ;)

Yeah i wud be happy to do that. I could take myelf out of the sweep, and then be able to supply a random bet for each game per day?

Yeah, possibly. I'd hate to commit and then not have the time but I think I could just about manage.

Want me to handle it, Dicie?

The comp I mean...

The main problem I can see is a chess tournament in the middle of June (weekender) and I'm directing a show at school but I should be able to work around those. I will have it so that all selections have to be placed on an official thread by kick off time for the first game of each day.

Even if I'm not online at that time, the posts will be time-stamped.

Ok, I will devise something over the next month and start an official thread in the fortnight leading up to the Championships.

No point doing it too early.

The main jobs throughout the tournament will be to list matches and prices at the start of each day and then to collate the results and post them up.

I'll probably use a spreadsheet online - so I can easily let a back up have the password.

I'll make this a good comp, I promise.

Just so people are aware, scores will be odds-based.

So if MH had a 3/1 winner and Dicie had a 2/1 winner on a given match, obviously MH would score higher for that game.
