How do you think Mick will perform on the pro tour Dicie?Dicie wrote:Also good luck to Mick mac gowan, not only going back playing pro tour, but got the all clear in the hospital the other day after a long illness.
By the time I got into darts (2008) Mick was sliding down the rankings & was diagnosed with his illness which has obviously had a huge effect on his darting career, how well do you think Mick could've have down had he not been hit with the illness?

I think he might struggle today and for the rest of the yr, but if he still has eht drive he might go for a tour card and give it a good go again.
How good was he?
On form no one was better in this country by a mile. In the pdc he was i would say a cert for a top 16 place the way things were going, im sure if you asked Chris mason or Kevin painter how good he can be, they would give you the pdc answer, as very good.
I played Mick in a comp in meath, 2007.
Last 8 match, decent format best of 9 legs.
I lost 5 nil.
I hit 3 tons and a 140 with the throw and didnt get a shot in one leg.
Mick hit 6x180s in that match, he was doing this week in week out on the pro tour at the time.
Would be really good to see him back, he is still only 35, so loads of time, just needs that hunger he had.

Re: Good luck today
I recall mick destroying mace in scotland 6-0 in a pdc comp where he averaged 129.
Was gutted to see him lose to kirk in the world championships a few years back....a game he should have won, but in his defense he was sufferring at the time.
I really hope the guy can regain his form, just as I hope does mace and burnett manages to maintain his as well

Re: Good luck today
Yes 35 is no age for a dart player but the hunger part is key, so it may all depend how Mick looks on it - is he going to give it 100% & really commit himself to the PDC or will he just take it easy entering tournaments here & there as a day member.Dicie wrote:hang the dj wrote:How do you think Mick will perform on the pro tour Dicie?Dicie wrote:Also good luck to Mick mac gowan, not only going back playing pro tour, but got the all clear in the hospital the other day after a long illness.

Is there any chance he may give the BDO route a go & play a few of the open events to see how he fairs before deciding to try the PDC pro tour as it ain't cheap

The resurgence of Burnett must give a lot of players hope who may think their career is on the downward spiralJustin Credible wrote:I recall mick destroying mace in scotland 6-0 in a pdc comp where he averaged 129.

Re: Good luck today
thats the beauty of darts that even at the age of 40 it is still young.Taylor the top dog is 50.
When you have guys like burnett winning a ranked event for the first time in ten years, mason young enough and good enough to chance his arm again you have to think at 35 mick can get back to where he was in the coming years.
Makes you think how long lewis, klassen, webster and MVG have in the game if their mind is right.
Even james wade is still only a nipper in dart years.

Lewis wont be around lon ggaz if he keeps up his current lifestyle and habbits.
Diabetis only round the corner, and only so long you can run around the way he is, late nights, heavy drinking, eating badly.
