Need help

Post by Greipel » Mon Jan 20, 2025 8:09 pm

Serious question, I want to improve 'cause' I'm sick and tired of the constant choking of the other Hungarians.

When I aim T20, the darts land in the 5s and when I go for T19, they land in the 3s for a lot of times. What can be the problem? Bad release? Moving elbow? I hit a lot of 1s and 7s too but clearly not as much as the aforementioned.

Sounds like a chronic case of Hungarian Choking Disease to me.

Try just hitting the big 20 to start instead of aiming for the treble, once you master that, move on to the treble

Yeah this is good advice. Start with big targets and make them smaller when you get more accurate.

Basically just practice practice practice. When I was decent I was throwing 3/4 hours a day.

It could be a mix of a few things like the angle of your darts, your grip, or even just the release timing. Try focusing on keeping your elbow steady and practicing your follow-through. Also, check that your grip isn't too tight or too loose. Maybe record yourself and see if there are any changes in your form when you're throwing at different targets.

Recording my action maybe really can help, I'll try to find a solution for this.

I have a similar issue. Hit lots of treble 20's, but also my fair share of treble 1's and 5's. I know if I aimed higher when going for treble 20 I would hit less treble 1's and 5's but just can't get my head round not trying to hit treble 20s.

I'm nowhere near a top player, but little things like round the board in big numbers and aim for under 30 darts is a good way to start, then try hitting 2/3 and then 3/3. Eventually the rhythm and accuracy will become normal
