If it was Matchplay I'd be worried for Smith. I think sets gives him a better chance. Hoping for a great final and hope Aspinall gets some World Series events where he can make some money and get some exposure. Do think Humphries is the stronger long term propsect of the 2 though.

Excellent, the conveyor belt in full flow now. Wonder who is next to reach a world final (or any major final really), Dimitri, Hopp, Aspinall and Payne are some fine contenders. And Cadby, if we ever see him again that is.
The truth, however ugly in itself, is always curious and beautiful to seekers after it.

Might also be for MVG that he can't believe that match was so easy, so he's relieved, also he hasn't been to loads of finals here, he's lost at various stages, and to be fair he is always likely to win 4 or more world titles all being well with his health, he deserves his final spot for sure, hopefully Smith can put up a proper fight.

Cadby if he does come back would be the prime candidate, small sample size, but when he was in the UK earlier in the year he was one of the best players in the world, surely too good to put down to a flash in the pan. After that, I guess Dimitri is probably most likely, certainly got the game, even if there are other things he needs to sort out. Hopp I fancy will be a Wade type, won't bang in 110+ averages, but can be consistently good enough to take advantage of others' mistakes. Aspinall has been a revelation, the fear is that he'll do what Lewis did last year, but at least he does have a greater body of work this year tbf. Dunno about Payne, not sure he's top top drawer, but potential top 10 for sure

I think this is the first time I've EVER got the world final I wanted from a pair of semi-finals. Ok thanks. Oh 2014 maybe, who did Wright beat in the semis that year?

We got Cadby in a UK Open final. Dimitri a World Series Final, Hopp a Euro Tour final and missing darts for a European Championship final (as did Cullen). De Zwaan a Matchplay semi, Aspinall and JLewis Ally Pally semis. Cross himself. The door is wide open and all kinds of stuff can happen now.

Guess what we want to see is a young player who can hit the level over and over. The brilliance tends to come in flashes and then they go quiet again, as I suspect Aspinall and Humphries now will. It's really easy, yes. The Michaels is a wonderful World Final in this regard. Bet Bazza and the lads are dead chuffed at what it represents.
