A comparison with 2013 and other years indicates there is better depth in 2024, but the players who reached the latter stages in 2013 [Taylor, Lewis , MVG, etc] were broadly operating at a higher level than the players who reached the latter stages in 2024.

The gap has seemingly closed between the elites and the rank and file.

The semis and final rounds posted higher averages than the previous two years, so yes the standard was solid.
