18x 100+ averages at the 2024 Matchplay. That is five more than the previous record, helping to cause a huge leap in the tournament average. Quality.

Re: The World Matchplay Junk Drawer
A comparison with 2013 and other years indicates there is better depth in 2024, but the players who reached the latter stages in 2013 [Taylor, Lewis , MVG, etc] were broadly operating at a higher level than the players who reached the latter stages in 2024.Rogg wrote: ↑Mon Jul 22, 2024 3:03 pm 18x 100+ averages at the 2024 Matchplay. The gap has seemingly closed between the elites and the rank and file.

Wadey almost had 103 average vs humps though, not bad at all.

Re: The World Matchplay Junk Drawer
The semis and final rounds posted higher averages than the previous two years, so yes the standard was solid.

Indeed
This was the most exciting game of that tournament. Easily one of my favourite darts matches ever.

The semi final between Lewis and MVG was the game I was referring to.
