Football was shit for me today, surely you'll allow me this moment to enjoy myself eh ;)
Enjoy mate

Still wish u or Bournemouth had stayed up ahead of the Midlands Mags
Sigh, our defense has been so so bad for so long, never really improved there, and we paid the price. Oh well, reckon we can bounce back!
U have a chance but depends who your loony owners appoint I suppose
Give us the guy who saved Barnsley from the dead and we get promoted with 100 points 👍
You can take Garry Monk from Wednesday if you like and Nigel Pearson can come home.

I can’t do that, I love it on here I see you as family, illegitimate family but family all the same. I think you are the grumpy Uncle, Safc and senna are the annoying little brothers ( reality is they are probably older than me) and Randall is the cantankerous father figure 😀
I’m trying to work out who Cheeseman is 🤪

Not just 5 different winners, but 8 different finalists. Clearly the Matchplay is the hip new version of the UK Open.
This just highlights how incredible Taylor's achievement in winning 7 successive titles between 2008-2014 was, especially as for most of his victories players like Wade, Lewis, RvB, Anderson were in their prime and also guys like Whitlock, Webster, King were all playing great darts. In fact Taylor reached 9 out of 10 finals between 2008-2017, winning eight of them.

MvG's poor record in this tournament while in his prime is a huge black mark against both his, and other's claims that he is greatest ever.

A bit strange that MvG seems to struggle at this tournament given that matchplay should benefit the top players as opposed to setplay where you can take a bit of a hammering but win the key legs and then the match (I say seems to struggle as Taylor didn't have a great record at the Matchplay initially before eventually making it his personal property)

Some observations thanks to @ochepedia. https://mobile.twitter.com/ochepedia?p=s

Christopher Kempf @ochepedia
He would be the 1st new continental winner of a ranking TV title since 2012, and the first World Youth Champion ever to win a ranking TV title.

Dimitri Van den Bergh is only the 7th player from continental Europe to reach a ranking final in the PDC.

1 Roland Scholten 2004
2 Raymond van Barneveld 2006
3 Vincent van der Voort 2007
4 Michael van Gerwen 2012
5 Kim Huybrechts 2012
6 Mensur Suljović 2016
7 DVdB 2020

There were 86 101+ checkouts at the 2020 World Matchplay. 13.4% of legs were won with a 101+ finish - the highest such percentage of any ranking TV event of at least the past 5 years.

To the best of my knowledge, Phil Taylor (2017) and Dimitri Van den Bergh (2020) are the only two players to have won a ranking TV title by defeating three multiple world champions along the way.
