Re: PDC World Cup
The USA draws van Barneveld and van Gerwen!
The Netherlands had better pack a lunch because they're gonna eat it.

Re: PDC World Cup
not bad pity Ireland was not in australia's section, by far the poorest term in terms of form out of the top 4.
Scotland have 2 great players but both can be inconsistent, hopefully if and when Ireland beat Poland and Wales they can put in a decent showing against the jocks

From the PDC website:M H wrote:A lot of these seeds look very arbitary
"NB: Teams are seeded based on the cumulative Main Order of Merit ranking of their two representatives (South Africa and Sweden are seeded based on their one ranked players' position), with Japan taking the 16th seed on account of Haruki Muramatsu's status as a Tour Card Holder."

Re: PDC World Cup
The Australia quarter looks pretty interesting. Aussies haven't been good as we all know and Belgium (especially Ronny) hasn't been at its greatest form either, so I could see Reyes and Alcinas take the dark horse race to the semis there.

Re: PDC World Cup
This has been an event that in my opinion punched above it's weight, always an enjoyable watch.
First time out I thought it would be an abortion of a cow pat making BDO Events look good. Yes I know BDO Events weren't around at the time but you get the drift?
But as much as some of the early matches can be very poor quality it warms up very nicely as it progresses.
Gotta be honest, I'm not looking forward to seeing Part getting dicked by a total jobber

Re: PDC World Cup
the big nations of england holland and scotland will always do well, as they should against the minnows but every year like the fa cup in football we get a couple of shock results which is great for the comp and hopefully it will continue this year

Webster's been playing OK but this is televised so wouldn't be surprised if he turned into a gibbering wreck.

According to Dartsjournalist, there's a mistake with the Russian team and Boris Koltsov is supposed to be there in place of Alexey Kadochnikov.

Although even England, Holland and Scotland have had shock early exits in the past, anything can happen in this event; especially with the doubles formatJustin Credible wrote:the big nations of england holland and scotland will always do well, as they should against the minnows but every year like the fa cup in football we get a couple of shock results which is great for the comp and hopefully it will continue this year

Re: PDC World Cup
would like to see a rule where any country who had 2 more other players with the top 64 be allowed a second team.
England 2 could have chizzy and Wade, holland could have Klaasen and V vd Voort, Scotland have Thornton and Henderson etc etc...

To be honest the Friday afternoon session of this is the worst televised darts of the year (women excluded). A lot of the jobber nations simply ain't good enough, last year 13 of the 32 teams averaged below 80 in round 1.
Maybe the top 4 seeds can get a second team, in place of the teams ranked 29-32.
I'm disappointed that Gurney's not made it in the NI team, he's paying the price for being shit on the floor last year.
Dropping down to the minor leagues every Sunday to give my take on all things forumland.

Re: PDC World Cup
No Baxter again for England, the selectors really need to sort themselves out, his return to form on the pro-tour last weekend has been sadly overlooked.

aye, the 32 team format is grand if the quality is good overall but a heap of these nations are fodder, if you are gonna have 32 teams, then bump it up with some big nation b teams.
Since there are no B teams, then maybe 24 teams of 8 seeds, and 16 non seeds, where the 16 non seeds play a round before meeting the seeds
You could leave out the 8 worst teams.
