I've just heard that the Arsenal chairman has said they could afford Rooney's wages so it may be a runner

Would they stump up £30m+ for him?

Unlikely.

doesnt matter what he's worth, it's what the club will look to sell him for. Won't want to make a loss & there's more than one club interested.

Drives the price up.

As mentioned elsewhere, united wont sell to another English club.

To get rid of a disaffected player costing £250k a week with fitness problems they'll sell him to the highest bidder mate. Personally I hope Chelsea don't go for him as I've always thought he's over rated

They won't sell to an English club.

Particularly when they don't have cash that others have.

I wouldn't be so sure mate as he's no longer what Utd see as an automatic pick. Will be interesting to see how this plays out though

He isn't when he isn't fit. When he is, he is.

End of the day, he won't decide, Coleen will

£20m would be too cheap though. City just bought some third rate Brazilian who has spent the majority of his career in the Russian league for £30m. I'm sure Rooney's achievements are greater than his.

Liverpool paid around £20m for the likes of Downing and Henderson. Again, Rooney is a lot better than them.

Balanced with a £30m saving in wages should they even let him go for nothing mate? Doesn't he have two years left on that ridiculous amount?

Well, no, because his basic rate is no where near what you are quoting.

Most of it is appearance/incentive based, which explains why he is so miffed at not playing.

I might be showing some naivety here, but how can fans be so sure about what a player is earning? This information is private, as it should be. Nobody would appreciate their employer telling the media how much money they are making.

And the media tend to pluck their figures out of thin air as depending on which newspaper you read, the money a player earns can vary wildly. But £250,000 seems excessive.

Arshavin set to become the highest paid footballer in the world on 400k a week. Some joke
