willem0000 wrote: Sun Apr 27, 2025 7:57 am For the World Masters getting a proper home and maybe because of that a multiple year tv-deal it will be good that so many tournaments are in Hungary, hopefully from there some good players will come. Getting something like a 3 year deal on the venue and tv would be huge for the WDF and great for the players. Hungary is propably also the country where the chance of broadcasting Lakeside is highest (but slim), since they have contacts from the World Masters, and have a lot of youth tournaments and the Lakeside qualifiers there to get more players into Lakeside.

I could see a decrease in participants per tournament, as propably lots of the players don't really pursue points, and just join a couple of tournaments. It still makes the WDF a couple of 100s per tournaments so that is good as well.
We need government to put money up and buy us Lakeside coverage it would be a great way to spread the word.

You could have Pal Szekely teach darts maths at school he has a successful program.

Hungary needs to properly compete in darts. We would only need to putin 1% of the money Orban is giving to football!

I love MotoGP but to be honest Hungary investing in MotoGP is not worth it nearly as much as investing in darts!
Problem that darts got is not beeing seen as a healthy sport and that it isnt Olympic, and thus propably not getting any or a lot of money from national olympic committees. Darts becoming Olympic would be big for WDF and national darts organisations. Gun shooting and with the bow has been olympic since the first modern games. Just drop speedwalking for darts. Darts is propably also a more lucrative choice for organising countries with a bit of a darts following, as there is loads to be earned from drinks. Just a shame London didnt put it in in 2012, there's a proper venue just outside London

16 tournaments in the USA, which is the maximum, should it be allowed more? It has a regional ranking of its own, so it wouldnt be unfair against other countries regional ranking wise, it might be for the general ranking, but the USA is extremely wide, and is almost as big as UK and W/E/N-Europe (except for Russia and the nearly uninhabited north) so traveling is still a thing. In my opinion WDF should allow it and take the money

I think there should be allowed more than 16 if they can.

Every org should be allowed to put on as many events as they want. Makes no difference anyway given this is amateur darts and the worlds seeding is only capped at 10 events counting. The more tournaments the better.
Team Corvid 2025 consists of the following 12 players.

Clayton, Littler, Gilding, De Sousa, Wright, Evans, Campbell, Scutt, Lauby, Rob Owen, Patrick Geeraets and Justin Hood.

I think allowing a larger number of Bronze events makes sense. The WDF should agree subdivisions for larger countries.

For Silver or better, they could expect more of the players to travel.

Yeah it is capped at 10 (or 8 for regional) but to get 10 you probably need to play more tournaments as you wont get in to the points in every tournament. Having lots of tournaments nearby makes it easier to change a L16 for an L8 etc when you already have 10 scores. Iceland could have 25 weekends of a single bronze or silver tournament, and foreigners wouldnt travel and the Icelanders can share the points. Australia and NZ already have something like that (without the need to have just 1 tournament in a weekend because of location). Australians still have a lot to travel and NZ'ers also a bit, but there is almost no competition from outside. In the case of Iceland they would almost certainly get the 2 spots of the North Europe region.

In multi country regions there is probably a need for a max, or mandatory 2 tournaments in a weekend and prize money minimum if they get a lot of tournaments. But for now WDF probably takes the money everytime. Addicks calculated that the WDF gained about 95K from tournament and player levies last year. Add a silver with 200 participants and a bronze with 125 particiants and the WDF has 1K more (over 1% extra). After dropping the prize money for Lakeside 2 years in a row I cant see them turning down to that, especially with the ADC on their heals.

Money rules.

WDF need to do anything to survive. It's the right decision.

Fairness comes second I'm sorry to say! People don't want to hear this but how else can it be done.
