Re: WDF Season 2025
Just looking at the WDF Calendar, and Hungary has 15 ranking events this year, plus the World Masters, World Open (not confirmed), Lakeside qualifiers. Dominating the WDF in Europe that's for sure! Seems a bit silly to allow one country that is part of a region the ability to put on so many events, particularly as the prize money for most of them will not encourage many to travel.

Re: WDF Season 2025
Lol I thought you were including youth but you werent. Last year they had 7. There is a maximum of 16, so I wonder if they are going to count the WM as something that is organised by the Hungarians or that is falls under the WDF. Otherwise something like the WO would be #17, but I guess rules will be flexible. They are talking about 9 days of action, so there probably will be another ranked event in addition to the WM to attract players and a lot of non-ranked. Current tournaments are all bronze except for one which is 'n' (non-ranked/not yet known?), and a bunch of them are single events, so thats even less attractive to visit if you want to gain points.Addicks Fan wrote: ↑Sat Apr 26, 2025 12:29 pm Just looking at the WDF Calendar, and Hungary has 15 ranking events this year, plus the World Masters, World Open (not confirmed), Lakeside qualifiers. We put a lot of effort in it. Maybe other countries aren't really bothered with the WDF anymore.Addicks Fan wrote: ↑Sat Apr 26, 2025 12:29 pm Just looking at the WDF Calendar, and Hungary has 15 ranking events this year, plus the World Masters, World Open (not confirmed), Lakeside qualifiers. The more events the better for players. Do t have a problem with it. It’s just embarrassing they have this many opportunities to play darts in their own country and yet still are miles behind other countries with similar or smaller populations and far less opportunities in terms of quality players.Addicks Fan wrote: ↑Sat Apr 26, 2025 12:29 pm Just looking at the WDF Calendar, and Hungary has 15 ranking events this year, plus the World Masters, World Open (not confirmed), Lakeside qualifiers. Lot of decent players traveled for this and yet 2 Icelanders still got to the men’s final promising signs of growth.TheMalteseDart wrote: ↑Sat Apr 26, 2025 12:03 pm https://tv.dartconnect.com/event/icelandopen25/matches Underway in Iceland

Re: WDF Season 2025
For the World Masters getting a proper home and maybe because of that a multiple year tv-deal it will be good that so many tournaments are in Hungary, hopefully from there some good players will come. Getting something like a 3 year deal on the venue and tv would be huge for the WDF and great for the players. Hungary is propably also the country where the chance of broadcasting Lakeside is highest (but slim), since they have contacts from the World Masters, and have a lot of youth tournaments and the Lakeside qualifiers there to get more players into Lakeside.
I could see a decrease in participants per tournament, as propably lots of the players don't really pursue points, and just join a couple of tournaments. It still makes the WDF a couple of 100s per tournaments so that is good as well.

We need government to put money up and buy us Lakeside coverage it would be a great way to spread the word.willem0000 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 27, 2025 7:57 am For the World Masters getting a proper home and maybe because of that a multiple year tv-deal it will be good that so many tournaments are in Hungary, hopefully from there some good players will come. You could have Pal Szekely teach darts maths at school he has a successful program.
Hungary needs to properly compete in darts. We would only need to putin 1% of the money Orban is giving to football!
I love MotoGP but to be honest Hungary investing in MotoGP is not worth it nearly as much as investing in darts!
The truth, however ugly in itself, is always curious and beautiful to seekers after it.

Leonard Gates won the Tricoda Open in the States, beating Alex Spellman in the final. Gates posted a 113 average in his QF win over Aaron Jalbert.
