I always build them into a game of some kind.

The game where you play against the board hitting finishes from 41 upwards is quite good when you're shit like me, the best I have done is a 10-4 loss, but it keeps it interesting. Sometimes I do the same with finishing 101 in 6, helps with the set up as well. Bob's 27 is good too, but can't be arsed to explain the rules

Can't really help on this one, as doubles are something I never really practice. The only advice I can give is to try and not think too much about it and just throw. I tend to finish well when I speed my game up a tad.

Finding at the moment I either hit 1st/2nd dart or not at all.

Double 8 is a fav at the moment but really don't want to become reliant on one out.

At the moment not particularly concerned with 2/3 dart checkouts, just looking for a way to practice hitting doubles.

8s & 16s are generally the favourite of a right hander.

If you like leaving yourself on tops, practice 10s as well.

Generally working on doubles is done 41 up, but you could play round the clock on doubles.

Have you seen those Pro Trainer Boards, the treble and doubles are about 2/3rd's the depth of normal.
Personally I wouldn't use one, as I'd miss so much it would just do my head in. But Bulls, Unicorn and Winamu all make these boards, so must be some need for them.

Maybe try this.

X20
X18
X16
X12
X10
X8
X6
X4
X2
X1

You start with having 3 darts at tops, if you hit tops within them 3 darts you move onto X18, same again 3 darts at X18, if you hit you move onto X16, if you miss you move onto tops.

You should be trying to leave these main doubles all the time, tops, 16s,12s, 8s or 10, and the others are just breakdowns of them.

If you wanna practice 5s and 3s go for it, but in reality if you are hitting 12s, 6s, tops or 10s you wontn be needing the others.

I have left out 9s, which im sure any half decent player will tell you is a waste of time practicing looooooooooool

Spending a lot of time on D1 recently.

The first dart is pretty accurate and I hear the commenators talk about using the dart to bounce in the next, but mine tend to deflect into another bed. Is there a knack to it?

What do you think of the pro trainers, do you/have you used them?

Mentally you have to be strong if you are going to use pro trainers. You seem to have a great interest m8, if i was you i wud save the cash you wud spend on a pro trainer and speak to Paul gillings from darts performance centre (im working with them at present) i have to say if you dont notice the improvment within 4 weeks you are not doing as advised.
It will be the best £20 you will invest in your game

http://www.dartsperformancecentre.com/

Go there ^^^^, have a look round, lash him off an email see what he has to say, and say you were speaking to me, so they know there sponsorship hasnt been wasted lol, but i can assure you, 3 lads i know from my league have used this site, and cant speak highly enough about it.

If i can help in any other way m8, just ask.

I try to practice finishes randomly, pick a number and get it done regardless of how many darts it takes you (I generally start from the early 80s and work my way up and down depending on how I am playing). This helps with set ups as well as doubles and the relative switches (miss 8s, over to 4s, miss 4s, down to 2s etc). I played for a few hours last night and while playing absolute wank (struggling to score more than 45 for most of the night) I managed to wire a 147, a 136 and take out 106, 112 and a cheeky 81 on double 13.

Iv improved my set up hugely in the last 3 months, i play 161,164,167,170 finish all in 6 darts or less. Then i move down, 152, 154, 156, 157, and so on, keep moving down 10 or so once iv finished the 4.

when i very rarely practice, i go for 121-130 in 6 darts, 1 after the other. best is a 6-4 win, but mostly i get beat 7-3 or so.
