Least Deserved Major Wins (not really a poll)
So first, let's define major. I picked major because it sounds better than TV win, but it's basically any ranking TV title from the PDC and for the sake of it also the BDO. But don't just pick BDO because it's shit, ok?
Here's the ones that fall under this category:
PDC Worlds
UK Open
World Matchplay
World Grand Prix
GSoD
PC Finals
European Championship
BDO Worlds
World Masters (not the Masters)
World Trophy
There's loads of candidates out there and people probably will have forgotten about some of them because they were simply such obscurities. Fire away.

If you win it you win it, it's a case of taking the opportunities when they are put in front of you.
I can't see how any winner doesn't deserve to win a title.
OK they may not be the best player in that particular tournament but they did what they needed to do to get the pot.
Darts is all on the day.

Let's experiment with Cross at the 2018 Worlds. Surviving eight match darts along the way.
Try and beat 8 by two different opponents before going weird.

+1
You could make an argument for his 1994 title as well.

Adams winning Lakeside 2011.
One of the weakest BDO fields on record. Adams didn't average above 93 in any of his games, and barring Walton who averaged a mammoth 92 against him in the second round, none of his opponents averaged above 90.

Here is my opinion, you can't win any of these events undeserved. The standard of your opponents mean fuck all. Your opponent missing is not "luck" as some like to suggest.
Now if you actually cheated to win a title or some of sour opponents pulled out and you got multiple byes in a tournament, I could perhaps see the point. But in normal circumstances, it doesn't make sense. No win is less deserved because your opponent missed match darts or whatever.

But I reserve the right to be more impressive with say Taylor's 2017 Matchplay campaign over Adams 3 Lakeside titles. Context does matter.

True, but the Matchplay is a superior title to post-split Lakeside anyway.sennafan24 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 17, 2020 11:25 amFair points. The Thorn wrote: ↑Tue Nov 17, 2020 11:07 am Here is my opinion, you can't win any of these events undeserved. I place more value in Taylor's 2010 PL win than I do Duzza's 2020 PL win.

One of the most deserved in my opinion. Not only beat the two GOAT's in the semis and final, also beat Dimi and Michael Smith in great games.

Gurney's Grand Prix. He beat Lewis, Cullen, Thornton, Henderson and Whitlock.

One of my favourite players but you have to count your blessings to have had the run to a World title that Lewis had in 2012.

Surely it depends how someone plays against a "shit" run of oppponents, if Lewis averaged 105 in every game above how can you say he didnt deserve it?
You cant just look at who someone played imo.
