These kind of polls/ debates are always going to stir up emotions but Adams is rated highly in practically any poll you see. Some have him top 10 ( not me) but some do. He is rated in the darts world maybe a few on here don’t but i think it is more because they don’t like him.!
Even as a pure darting judgement you could say any pdc player on the list have achieved more in stronger fields

MvG got beaten twice this year by Kuivenhoven yet he's in the top 3?
These polls are nonsense!

Not really.

If you look at his career objectively, you will see that he was a nearly-man in both the BDO and the PDC competitions he competed in up until 2006. Two of the Lakesides he won came after almost every other top player of that era had left for the PDC. The Lakeside he won in 2007 was heavy on names, but was dismal in terms of standard. And other than the opening round, Adams himself played very average darts and almost choked against Nixon in the final.

He was never the best in the world. In fact, he was never in the top 3 at any point in his career, perhaps not even the top 5.

The last bit is very subjective. I agree about the Nixon final, I remember watching that thinking he isn’t going to blow this surely.

Of course they do.

Thorn beat Taylor and MVG in finals to win his PDC majors?

Who did Adams beat to win his three Lakeside titles? Phil Nixon, Dean Winstanley, and an inexperienced Dave Chisnall.

Was he ever better than Taylor and RVB? I think not.

Lewis and Anderson were better than him from 2010 onward, possibly earlier.

Wade was better than him from 2007 onward.

Heck, Andy Hamilton was probably better than him in 2007 as well.

Exactly

Easy to talk about longevity but he was doing it in the bdo

How successful was he in the PDC, or the BDO circa 1994-2005?
Why did he only qualify in 94 and not before?

He was only coming on the scene then. Nobody is suggesting he is better than the big guns of 1994
