The darts forum definitive all time top 20 -4th place poll
Its clear who the top 3 are so we move onto 4th place.
Again I will list who I believe to be the obvious choices but if your vote is for someone else say so in the comments

I voted Gary Anderson who I believe should actually be 3rd with Bristow 4th.

Gary Anderson has more talent than Bristow, but Bristow was a better competitor, more bottle etc.

Bristow would easily get in the head of Gando and Headshaker.
Bristow was a better player than both as well.

Makes me wonder how bad Fatpot would have had to have been scraped off the wall had his incident been with Bristow rather than Manley.sennafan24 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 28, 2020 9:14 pm Bristow would easily get in the head of Gando and Headshaker.

I love Bristow but I think there is a lot of assumption that his career would have maintained the same trajectory it was on if it weren't for the dartitis but that's an unknown and he used to say himself his competition wasn't up to much.
Gary Anderson has won what he has won in the crossover of periods of dominance of both Taylor and MVG who I say are the two best of all-time.
(plus he has a winning record against Price despite having been in basically semi-retirement mode or injured for the last two years)

Yeah, Lowe, Wilson, and Bob Anderson were shit. The averages he posted on those boards in the mid-1980s are just as impressive as the best averages we see today.SuperSwede wrote: ↑Thu Oct 29, 2020 12:43 am I love Bristow but I think there is a lot of assumption that his career would have maintained the same trajectory it was on if it weren't for the dartitis but that's an unknown and he used to say himself his competition wasn't up to much.

That is completely pointless. Until the last 2 years Price was a pretty average player.SuperSwede wrote: ↑Thu Oct 29, 2020 12:43 am I love Bristow but I think there is a lot of assumption that his career would have maintained the same trajectory it was on if it weren't for the dartitis but that's an unknown and he used to say himself his competition wasn't up to much.

It's 4-2 to Price in the last 2 years, but that is also too small a sample size to attach much meaning.

There was little to no depth in terms of troubling the best 5 or 6 players, tournaments basically started at the quarter finals stage mostly.sennafan24 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 29, 2020 1:44 amYeah, Lowe, Wilson, and Bob Anderson were shit. Re: The darts forum definitive all time top 20 -4th place poll
I agree it's pointless, why I put it as an aside in brackets only as someone mentioned that Gary couldn't handle him. As Price has improved Gary has gotten old, injured and semi-retired. Prime Gary would more than handle any of Price's antics because he'd just smash him off the board.Captain Hobo wrote: ↑Thu Oct 29, 2020 2:50 amThat is completely pointless. Taylor pretty much had a 50-50 record against Wright in his last two years and slightly the worse of it against MVG, you wouldn't and couldn't use that as the basis for saying he couldn't handle them.

What is Prime Gary though? 2015-2018? And only 2 World Titles in that time.SuperSwede wrote: ↑Thu Oct 29, 2020 3:14 amI agree it's pointless, why I put it as an aside in brackets only as someone mentioned that Gary couldn't handle him. Bristow was at the very top for a lot longer than that and won 5 World Titles, even before getting Dartitis.
