As others have said, wade choked after he missed d18 to win 6-2 or whatever the score was, his scoring went to pieces and fat Lewis went berserk for a few sets.
Wade was 2-0 up in sets when they walked off.

So yes.
Weird. That's not how I remember it at all. I think some (including I) have locked into a particular idea in the years since, associating the 5-1 we all remember with the draught we all remember. This game was actually only a year or so since Wade had done a similar sort of thing v Hinges in the Slam final.

Well a certain poster on here claimed that Wade was drunk when he played Waites or got that way during the game. That’s an absolute bonkers claim. Ive seen Wade after the match In his interview, and whilst he is obviously not happy he appears sober.
The only thing that Wade did that would be deemed mildly controversial if at all, was throw his darts to the floor after Waites hit the winning double.

Correct, so Wade still won 3 sets after windgate. How stupid do you have to be to blame his loss on that? He simply fucked up.
It doesn’t excuse the fact that they should never have walked off at all. If Lewis was 2-0 would he have been acting like a baby wanting to come off??
Lewis head was all over the place, if they don’t go off Wade would have probably won 6-0 unless he wins by default if Lewis walks off and doesn’t come back.
Nobody is saying Wade didn’t blow it at 5-1 up in sets, just like he did against Waites when he was 8-0 up in legs. It happens to most if not all darts players at some point.

I have no issue with Halloween Jack not rating Lewis's 2012 title.

Just as I don't rate Part's 1994 Lakeside title, Adam's 3 Lakeside titles, and Duzza 2020 PL title.

I am sure he will be just as tolerant of my opinions as I am of his.

Why are we not rating Lewis winning in 2012?
He beat a player from 5-1 down who its being argued is in the top 10 of all time?

He didn't play that well throughout the tournament.

He played better in 2010 and 2011.

He played amazing against Taylor in 2010 and still got done 5 nil.

He was one of few non-cheats I would say though he may have been the unknowing beneficiary of acts of shadiness.

I haven’t said I don’t rate Lewis 2012 world title, in my opinion the semi final is somewhat tainted but others may not agree.
I too am very tolerant of anybodies opinions even if I may not agree. That’s why I enjoy this forum. It is shall we say a broad church. I would find it boring (as I suspect you would and others) if everybody agreed with everybody else.

This thread has reminded me of what a waste of talent Adi Lewis is.

I don’t like Lewis in terms of the way he has come across in certain games and of course there was the time he grabbed that player at the end of the floor event game. In my opinion he is the most petulant dart player ever. I do however think that as a natural talent he is up there as one of the best and I’m surprised he has only won 4 Premier events.
I was very surprised to learn that Lewis and Wade are actually very close as I always assumed there was needle between the pair.
In terms of Lewis, I don’t think he will ever win a Premier event again, I think Wade could though.

Wadey would love what Loooooooois has, I'm sure he'd swap all of those 'Premier' titles for THAT world title...
