Wrights year as world champion
Obviously the year is far from over
Plus the year has been ruined by covid
But, has a world champion had a worse year so far?
Nowhere in either of the years 2 majors so far.
Consistently inconsistent in the pl
Not done a lot in few euro events that I can remember
Game seems to be absolutely nowhere going into the business end.
Annua horribulus incoming?

Cross also reached the semis of the PL, somehow
Done ok at the World Series and the Euro Tour, but only a WS title.
Reasonably early exits at the late TV tournaments and nothing too exciting elsewhere. Wright won the Masters, and a few ProTours. Already better imo

Generally I imagine that only MVG and Taylor ever followed up in any spectacular way because, well, they're different.
None of the other PDC world champions were prolific TV title winners afterwards or even before. Part and Lewis between them won almost nothing else at all.
Barney I think won UK Open and Vegas as world champ... that's good.

Feel bad for him because even as World Champ, he's barely played infront of any crowds.
Can't see him winning anything before the end of the year at this rate. But who knows.

I can't be bothered to work out how he did as world champion but he's now picked off more TV titles than it's easy to remember. That must be the mark of something (not memory loss). He went up hugely in my estimation when he won the Matchplay. Cullen should have had him but heyfuckinho, such is darts.
2x Worlds
2x Premier League
1x World Matchplay
1x UK Open
1x PC Finals
1x Champions League

Ando had decent years after his 2 WC wins but the only big title he won in those years was the 2015 PL

Ando's major results in 2015 and 2016:
2015: quick loss UK Open, won the Premier League, Last 16 exit to Sully at WM, an ET final (yes he played ET back then), no WS wins, final at the European Championship but lost at the WGP to fucking White. Two last 16 exits at GSoD and PC finals. You don't want to know the names.
2016: lost to VvdV in his first match since WC at the Masters, lost at the UK Open to that one qualifier I want to challenge you if you can remember their name (it's not Hogan), won three WS events though. Lost 17-8 to Taylor at the semis of the Matchplay but did reach the final of the Grand Prix against an unstoppable MvG (hah, can you imagine?). First round exits at the EC and WSoD Finals, Grand Slam a bit better with a semi but lost to everyone's favorite Ron Meulenkamp at the PC Finals.
In 2015 between his WC wins he ranked 11th in prize money that counts for the OoM, but of course he did win the PL. By the way, freaking Thornton placed second that year because of his WGP win and an ET win.
In 2016 between his second title and coming close to a third, he already did better with 5th but still behind Suljovic and Chisnall.

Do you know what the hardest thing about having a 10 second memory is?
