He was even lucky against the top players. Anderson and Wright both let him off the hook, for example.
So you wouldn't consider MvG and Price were the top players because they didn't make the top four in the end, but Aspinall and Anderson were? Trying to understand both perspectives of this discussion.
Top players in the league phase.

MVG didn't play well that week at all. He was far from his best.

Also, the bookies likely know their stats, and they have Duzza 7/2 as underdog/4th. While he topped the table. So they are convinced he's behind Aspinall, Wright and Anderson. He's also behind MvG and Price, obviously. There are numerous players who he might or might not be beating, the remainder of the top 16 I'd say, but he's definitely not better than everyone else.

Another reason why he's not "comfortably" top 6 or top 8 or even top 10.

What are you on? You think Durrant has performed so well because he's hyped up? Fucking hell.

Results aren't just how far someone got. Well tell me what the fuck are they then?

There is no point in arguing if you're going to make such ridiculous statements.

MVG, Price, Wright, Anderson, Aspinall. That's 5. And Dimitri arguably. (even though I could claim his major win was a "fluke" just as well) The rest of the players are below Durrant by all evidence I can see. If you think he's not comfortably top 10, you are fucking stupid.

Since you're playing ad hominem here I'm going to join in and point out that you're playing ad hominem here.
Also, evading burden of proof by asking confirmation of the opposite, while I'm argumentating my opinions with stats.
Also, prevention of dissent.
It's clear we disagree at this point. Ending discussion.

By the way, why of all those other names you mention Dimitri? That's literally the only person in the top 16 who according to the reasoning you've shared with us is never better than Durrant.

How is he clearly better than Bully Smith?

Nah, if a player has an easy draw or plays underperforming players, their results can flatter them.

Same applies in reverse.

You really are a fucking crybaby. How is pointing out statements that make no sense ad hominem? If you are offended by swearwords why are you still here?

This is a prime example of ad hominem.

Here's another example of ad hominem which I am by no means serious about and say to help you understand this principle:
"Oh I guess that's because you're not smart enough to remember what you've learnt in school?"

Best to just ignore you from now on so you don't get offended at anything.

Actually I didn't feel offended throughout this entire argument which hasn't happened that often to me before, so I guess that's one thing. I kinda liked arguing with you because we both brought up various arguments which although not all well-constructed (also from my side I admit) are still valid. You're free to have a different opinion in my eyes.
Also, if I'd have been offended by anything, it's probably you assuming I got offended. I want to put this out here because it concerns me that this is how you see me which doesn't make me feel any better than I already feel and I think it's not needed to take it there.

The Thorn wrote: Tue Oct 13, 2020 5:33 pm That's not true Viz. Durrant is extremely consistent FFS. He barely plays garbage or extremely brilliant on TV. Unless you show me actual stats (e.g. the standard variation of Durrant's game compared to other elite players), I'll call bullshit on that one.

And I feel like this is why people underrate him a bit. Look at this statement:
SuperSwede wrote: Tue Oct 13, 2020 5:15 pm He loses to most players in the (what I would consider) top 32 if both play at their max in my opinion.
It's nice and may be true but it matters fuck all. You claim Durrant is in and around 10th, yet the major results don't support that. The ranking TV results show he's comfortably top 6-8. And you can add the PL league stage win to that, 15 weeks against the best players in the world is a relatively big sample size in a year.
He isn't "comfortably top 6-8"

There are 4 players clearly better than him, and a good few more who are arguably better than him.
If you actually think Durrant isn’t in the top 8 players based on his time in the PDC then you ( and others) shouldn’t be posting on darts forums. You ( and others) clearly have an agenda with him. If he does win the Premier league would you and others give him praise?
You don’t fluke winning a league stage.
You don’t think he will win a Premier event, I think he will although I’m not sure it will be this years premier league if I am honest. I do agree he probably has 3-4 years to do this.

For the record I am not basing him being top 8 on pure talent, but results since he came to the PDC and his premier league results.
