You may be right. Somebody will be able to dig up some stats, but I’ve just seen the stats for the Grand Prix final In 2001 and this doesn’t look a great match of the averages are anything to go by. I know it’s a double start, but those figures are low.

2001 England Alan Warriner (83.52) 8–2 Netherlands Roland Scholten (81.84)
OK, it's not as bad as it looks because double start, but Jesus fucking Christ, 10 sets of that?

Unless he plays with 2 darts hes winning against this standard.
Against that standard of course he is. That wasn’t my point and I suspect most people that read my post would have understood that.
What’s to say Cross doesn’t suddenly raise his game and average 100 ?
He hasn't all year
Why would he now after that?
I seem to remember you saying he was poor last year, yet he won the Matchplay and European open. As poor as Cross has been I doubt he has thrown many 83 average games.
He was poor winning them as well
A win is a win and his name was on the trophy’s.

Warriner still holds the record average from that year, cut him some slack.

Hopefully someone makes a thread listing all of the players who in just two years made more money than mason but weren't good enough to lace his boots in his prime.

Fair enough. I think Phil averaged 100 in the final the year after.
