Re: 2020 World Series of Darts
I wonder how Duzza and Wade will affect each other, knowing that they're both very good in draining their opponent's averages.
Actually I don't really care, probably gonna take a mid-day nap when they start.

Duzza is a grinder now, and players find it hard to get to grips with him, but will that last? Anderson used to have a torrid time against Suljovic, yet he's got over that

If MVG played last night against Anderson or Lewis I’m sure you would have seen a more fluent performance and higher average from him. Put him and others against Duzza and it’s all change. To get into somebody’s head without even trying is a skill in itself.Randall wrote: ↑Sun Sep 20, 2020 10:36 amDragging people down isn't really an ability.HalloweenJack wrote: ↑Sun Sep 20, 2020 10:29 am
And there lies the skill of Duzza. He has the ability ( like Wade) to drag people down. In fairness to Duzza I think he does have the capacity to raise his game especially against MVG. Didn’t he average over a ton last night. I seriously think that Duzza gets to MVG like no other player has done before. We all know MVG is the better player but if he could avoid any one player it would be Duzza.
Its just having a style of play that doesn't suit others games
As for having a style that doesn’t suit other people. You should play the board not the player. Phil was rather good at that.
It's not a skill
Rhythm players cant get into a rhythm against them
That's why they dont produce against them
I disagree about the skill element though, I don’t believe Duzza does this but some players could easily slow down to affect the other player if they know it is going to get them an advantage. Call it gamesmanship but it’s not illegal.
Mitchell and hankey most obviously
Durrant, pipe etc are just slow players

Those examples make it look like everybody hates slow players. Re: 2020 World Series of Darts
It was indeed and to me they are still the three biggest PDC events. However I would say that since their formation both the GSOD and UK open are huge tournaments and i would rate them just below the three already mentioned.
Indeed At one point in it's first few years many people saw the GSOD as being second only to PDC World's as it contained some of top BDO players as well.
The PL is one that i struggle with, many fans and players hold it in really high regards, however it only features 8-10 players albeit top players. I think most class it as a major though.

I do feel the gp has been devalued to a point with it being shortened.paolo2144 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 20, 2020 11:45 amIt was indeed and to me they are still the three biggest PDC events. The slam is probably 4th. As stated before, it's the week or longer events over long course that are majors.
Not weekend events or exbos.

Re: 2020 World Series of Darts
Until they drop the qualifiers for the GSOD, it will not be a "major."
Worlds, GP and Matchplay are all based on merit and not some scabby qualifier for all the shite that wasn't good enough to qualify on the order or merit.

Re: 2020 World Series of Darts
Lol
Be interesting to see if MvG has the mental strength to turn this around.
Taylor initially struggled with likes of Chisnall. He also initially had problems with guys like Klassen, Painter, Webster, Whitlock and Anderson all of whom beat him the first time they played, also gave him some really tough matches in their early encounters. However Taylor not only overcame that but he ended up destroying most of them over a period of 4 or 5 years and had them in his back pocket.
Even RvB who had some really good successes against Taylor for a 12 month period between June 2006 and June 2007, ended up becoming a mental wreck after Taylor smashed him over and over again from 2008-2013.
Let's see what the green machine is made of over the next year or so.

Not going to bother with this afternoon. Hope Durrant and Asp come through, don't mind who wins the other 2 games.
The truth, however ugly in itself, is always curious and beautiful to seekers after it.

Bore off John Rawling.
Feel sorry for Warriner having to listen to his fucking drivel.
He deserves better than him and Mason.
