A very dramatic game that, IIRC Taylor averaged sub-90...not helped by the Target darts, or busting twice when on 130!phil the great wrote: ↑Wed Sep 02, 2020 10:13 pmYes it was, I kept thinking that Taylor would nick a leg somehow but alas it never happened! That was also the year he lost to a 23 year old kid called Aden Kirk in the UK Open, his version of the Kirk Shepherd loss by Mardle, how could he possibly lose a medium length match to a young upstart given his unbelievable amount of TV experience? It still boggles my mind that Taylor didn't win 10 9 even, to me it's the most shocking TV loss in PDC historyFiss Plaps wrote: ↑Wed Sep 02, 2020 10:05 pmRogg wrote: ↑Wed Sep 02, 2020 9:56 pmYes I meant that Taylor got whitewashed by MVG.phil the great wrote: ↑Wed Sep 02, 2020 9:53 pmCan't remember Taylor whitewashing MVG? I know MVG did it to Taylor, I was devastated, of all the people to lose to 0 to your main rival wasn't the one if you're Taylor! Surprised MVG hasn't ever lost only winning 2 legs, impressive in a way that he's always won at least 3 legs no matter what until tonight
Sorry to hear that you were devastated...I probably watched it four times. The match length was 15 minutes flat or something.
If memory serves correctly, this was the first TV match Taylor played after leaving Unicorn for Target.

Are you saying that because you don’t like Duzza? I believe Duzza will win more than 1 major/tv title. I also think it would be criminal if Smith didn’t win one with the talent he has.
I didn’t see last nights match but I’m guessing there was a lot of head shaking from Smith.

Re: Premier League 2020
The Matchplay was a really good opportunity for Duzza to win one, possibly won't get another chance to win one of the proper majors, but I'd say he'll definitely get another chance in some kind of TV event. As much as Smith has undoubted talent, it's really really worrying just how often he bottles itHalloweenJack wrote: ↑Thu Sep 03, 2020 7:53 amAre you saying that because you don’t like Duzza? It depends on what people class as majors?thegentle wrote: ↑Thu Sep 03, 2020 10:59 amThe Matchplay was a really good opportunity for Duzza to win one, possibly won't get another chance to win one of the proper majors, but I'd say he'll definitely get another chance in some kind of TV event. Tv titles are deemed to be majors ( not including World Series events)
The Premier league is supposedly part of the triple crown and you would have to say Duzza has a great chance of winning that.
I genuinely think Duzza would have a chance at winning the worlds, as I think he can grind opponents down and he has a lot of mental strength and currently there isn’t a player better than him at ton plus finishes.
Time will tell though.

If i were MvG i would quit after the worlds. He has enough money to do so. If they knock him from the No1 spot it's over and out for him i think.

Re: Premier League 2020
What? He lost a few PL games and that's it? He barely played any competitive darts, it's a new environment without the fans. It's pretty hard to get ready for a game every day if you have a slump in form. It's been only half a year ago that he won a major, and he did that in pretty dominating fashion. He still might end up winning the PL for all we know.

If people aren't pretending that MVG is winning literally everything then they are burying him forever.
Is there anyone anywhere who can manage to form a non-hysterical view on him? Is it you, reader?

Half a dozen majors/TV events coming up. Let's revisit this afterwards, shall we?

Most of durrants games must be rigged.
People play great night in night out
Play him and they fling turds at the wall

Re: Premier League 2020
The nonsense being talked about regarding MvG's current situation reminds me of all the old stuff that people used to post about Taylor when he went through a temporary slump.
At start of 2008 when he lost to Wayne Mardle at Q/F of World Championships and then 3 of his first 4 PL games loads of people were saying he was finished. This was in spite of fact he had still clearly been 2nd best player just a few months earlier at end of 2007.
We all know what happened next as Taylor went on to play the best darts ever witnessed at that time (and still right up with best that MvG has produced since). He dominated tournament after tournament till August 2010.
Even then as soon as he had minor slump at start of 2011, some were saying he was past it, finished, should retire now etc. He still went on to win another World championship, 4 World Matchplays, 2 World Grand Prix's and another 3 Grand Slam of darts over next 3.5 years.
So write off MvG off at your peril.
Don't get me wrong i have loved watching the bald gurner getting some of his own medicine recently but to bo so quick to write him off is just plain stupid.

Re: Premier League 2020
The problems that MVG faces are very telling. First players no longer fear playing him, they relish it. Also as he tries to get his form back many players are getting better and better. In the last 2 years more and players are power scoring.
Then there is pure Sporting pressure that happens to all greats which can absorb you ,swallow you up,shorten a career or spur you on to greater things. The latter is now very hard for MGV.
Also when Taylor and Bristow were in their pomp they had a much better standard of mind games to back them up.
Anyway time will tell. And while all this going on Ando is getting up the power scoring ladder once again.

Re: Premier League 2020
Mvgs record at the global majors is pretty weak
The matchplay especially
A format which is made for the best player.
