I don't think the change in darts manufacturer will have helped. His game's very erratic now.

Shame to see Merv dump out Big Martijn. Good debut Euro Tour for the Selectas' #2 hater regardless (behind Nick Kenny of course).
I'm sure it hasn't helped, but I'm not sure that's the main thing. I can't imagine the way he lost the world championship isn't a key factor. All through the tournament he looked bored, until he flicked a switch and hit what he needed to in order to progress comfortably. In the final, he tried giving it the same, turning it on in the third and fourth set to get back to 2-2. With Wright's history, he probably thought that would be enough. And it wasn't. Then he tried flicking the switch again and it didn't even touch Wright. I don't think he was used to flicking the switch when it really mattered to him and finding that his opponent wasn't remotely thrown off by it.
Good points. You have to wonder what would have happened had MVG hit the D16 in that fifth set to break Wright and throw for a 3-2 lead.

M. Smiff v Merv
Wright v Rat
Dirk v Asp
Gezzy v Mensur
2020 World Grand Prix Lucky Dip winner!
2x 2019 Q-School Lucky Dip winner!

Both as valuable as the Lakeside piss pot!

I don't mind him tbh, he is ok to watch pace wise.
I would rather watch him play than the likes of Brenda, Mervyn, Wilson and Miss Keegan

I do wonder if Wright might have gone back to his previous form, but I'm not convinced he would. He seemed so in control of his own game that he might just have carried on regardless.

A lot of it stems because when I first started playing darts a lot more, me and my mates would always play double start 301.
Can't remember if it was the 2015 or 2016 Grand Prix when West beat Taylor but I remember one leg, West couldn't hit a double to start off and eventually threw one at the bull out if frustration and hit it.
We always refer to that as "the Steve West" if we're in the same situation.
