Re: 2019 Grand Slam of Darts
A is depressing for Snackpot, B is depressing full stop. H looks the most competitive, and I think Yozza's the key to E, he's the sort who could dismantle Cross one minute then job to Ashton the next.

Be interesting to see what condition Hughes is in, said he had an elbow injury at the Euros and that he was hoping to be back to his best by the Worlds, though he played well to qualify last nightPotter's Lake wrote: ↑Tue Nov 05, 2019 7:57 pm A is depressing for Snackpot, B is depressing full stop. I will still have some money on Ashton and Suzuki to get beat 5-0 in every game

More likely depends on how much he treats the week like some kind of reunion and gets on the booze.thegentle wrote: ↑Tue Nov 05, 2019 8:12 pmBe interesting to see what condition Hughes is in, said he had an elbow injury at the Euros and that he was hoping to be back to his best by the Worlds, though he played well to qualify last nightPotter's Lake wrote: ↑Tue Nov 05, 2019 7:57 pm A is depressing for Snackpot, B is depressing full stop. I trust he won't do that, he's a proper pro now, and looks like he's taking it more seriously nowSuperSwede wrote: ↑Tue Nov 05, 2019 10:06 pmMore likely depends on how much he treats the week like some kind of reunion and gets on the booze.thegentle wrote: ↑Tue Nov 05, 2019 8:12 pmBe interesting to see what condition Hughes is in, said he had an elbow injury at the Euros and that he was hoping to be back to his best by the Worlds, though he played well to qualify last nightPotter's Lake wrote: ↑Tue Nov 05, 2019 7:57 pm A is depressing for Snackpot, B is depressing full stop. Can't watch this tournament until the last 16. I just hope as many BDO scum and floor tournament flukes have been eliminated as possible by that stage so a proper tournament can begin.

Group stage sucks ass and allows lesser players to sneak through.ThudThudThud3 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 06, 2019 12:27 am Can't watch this tournament until the last 16. I just hope as many BDO scum and floor tournament flukes have been eliminated as possible by that stage so a proper tournament can begin.

A least its a different format. Without the group stage it would just be another bog-standard leg play tournament

Re: 2019 Grand Slam of Darts
I like the loser plays loser winner plays winner second game format, but would much prefer the first matches to be random rather than always the pdc number 1 v bdo player.
One thing in favour of the groups is it gives some players more tv experience, but that being the case rather than 8 floor qualifiers I'd rather have the winner of the challenge tour, the development, the Asian tour, the SDC, the DPA, the CDC maybe. Give these guys some experience before the worlds as well.
8 players getting a place from winning 4 games in a depleted qualifiers field is ridiculous when people who win 7 games in a full Players Championship field can't get in and people win on Euro tour can't get in.
With this field, 8 BDO and 8 floor players, and the lack of quality I'd rather it was straight knockout open draw.
I also agree with everyone else the 2 players getting out of a group should go into different halves of the knockout draw.
PDC do get most things right but this tournament, the world series invites and the Euro tour host nation qualifiers all very wrong.

Re: 2019 Grand Slam of Darts
One of my favourite events, especially the group stage. Yes it allows lesser players to get through but you still need to win 2 games in all likelihood. And I like the participation of the BDO as well. The floor qualifiers are the only real big flaw about the event IMHO.
Have a go.
Have a go.
The truth, however ugly in itself, is always curious and beautiful to seekers after it.

Re: 2019 Grand Slam of Darts
Even when they did that they still had afternoon semis, just that the quarters were played on 1 day. If they started on friday night, then that frees up the following saturday to have the semis.
