"All in all a good tournament considering it was likely to be canned.

The Venue is superb & now the news its their for a futher 2 years. This could help give the BDO World Trophy its identity after 6 years. "Road to Blackburn" & it will stop all the "Will it be on" usually from myself lol

The Crowds were very good and the place was packed. Even if their was a number of free tickets its better visually & for the place to see the place looking full. Hopefully next year things will improve on this front

Eurosport production was very good, 2 of the best comms in darts with a fine presenter which gave the World Trophy much needed gravitas. (4)

The Standard of play may have dropped today but it was good overall. Its fits what we should all understand & expect within a BDO tournament. The Ladies game was excellent standard and its improving.

Congratuations to Lisa Ashton & Jim Williams on winning the titles. Mark McGrath & Joe Chaney proved why the regional leaders need to stay within the World Trophy Qualifying Criteria.

Paul Booth & the Refs did an outstanding job. A new Era but they fitted in extremely well & its a testament of the high class of refs around the County & Exbo systems

Onwards to the World Masters at the Circus Tavern, Will be looking forward to it & who knows what will happen"
No it wasn't Oche. Round 2 exceeding expectations doesn't excuse the poor standard of the other rounds.

From TSOD:
Tournament:

Last 32: 87.80 (88.49; 88.77; 86.05; 87.27; 86.47)
Last 16: 90.86 (90.08; 89.99; 90.85; 91.01; 87.36)
QFs: 84.89 (93.20; 91.39; 91.07; 87.84; 89.26)
SFs: 83.07 (94.32; 88.97; 88.54; 89.85; 90.40)
Final: 85.02 (96.34; 88.66; 84.52; 87.40; 90.58)

Overall: 87.53 (90.54; 89.43; 88.21; 88.58; 87.83)

Now the dust has settled on this, was it worth it?

How can any of this have been a success, paying punters along side non paying. Why would anybody purchase a ticket for next year?

Rogg had a point over the weekend.

They really are missing Duzza. They are even probably missing the likes of McGeeney and Baker - that's how bad things were in the latter stages.

Durrants departure has left a huge gulf, to be honest the names of yesteryear have come to the end. Being replaced by Q school failures and ex PDC players like Hamilton. If Des hadn't lifted the ban on Q school, what would the standard of been. Seriously if Des kept his mouth shut regarding sponsors and competing with the PDC and the advent of free tickets he might of consolidated. All he has done is made it far worse.

Oche can spout off as much as he likes regarding success, this tournament has been a complete failure

Does anyone know why Oche loves the BDO so much?

Nostalgia?

From Fanatics...Still on about free tickets....

Charlie Brownless So Des and Paula Jacklin you have liked every other comment apart from Paul Sabin and my own is that because you can't give a genuine answer or are you so embarrassed (not) that you cannot reply.
Your only decent option would be to offer Paul some sort of compensation but I think every single person in the world knows that you are never going to do that, the same as you will not like or love this post because we have an opinion that goes against yours.
I look forward to reading YOUR reply not the sheep that follow you.

I can't see it being filled.

With the new rules, anyone half-decent will sod off to Q School after a year or two. The best hope that the BDO has on that front is if one of the few remaining stalwarts hits a purple patch for a few years. But I don't see that happening. Mitchell is too inconsistent, Adams is too old, and Harms isn't that good.

They might not get a card, Come to the BDO and may cause some damage. I dont write anyone off.

But having said that Portela, Harris & Caven havent done much in the BDO.

Kids will play in the BDO until they are fully ready, Plenty of talent around in the BDO.

Im with stevieboy on this. It was a disaster. A few Interesting matches but overall not worth watching given there was shine fine footy matches on and the PDC event. Let's be honest none of the players on the men's side are interesting to watch.on the ladies side there are maybe two but you don't know what your gonna get. They are as likely to throw flaming turds as they are decent darts. Credit too them going to a much smaller venue as the crowds looked better than they ever did but it was a smallish affair and didn't generate money on ticket sales.

87 vs 84 in the averages.

If they end like that, the highest average from the QF onward will be 92. With only 3 averages over 90 on the final day.
"it's a long day"

Those final days of PDC weekend majors are always shit standard too.
