'John Boy Walton is the most underrated sportsman of this century'
Not sure what "not referring to steel" means especially as he then refers to the PDC which is all steel. So shooting at bigger targets as a top player translates to being able to compete against the best players who throw at smaller targets? What a load of horse shit! Larger targets mean less accurate players are able to play against more accurate players. i.e. the talent pool of those who can compete at the top end is bigger. This is the whole reason targets are the size they are in soft tip. By reducing the target size as in steel the less accurate shooters are dumped out of the top talent pool. So to compare the top talent of players shooting at bigger targets with those shooting at smaller targets is ludicrous."not referring to steel. But if you think those top 16 in the PDC are the best out there I assure you, you are very wrong.
Yes I’m well aware your caliber and accomplishments in darts.
But that being said when they opened the format to allow more players at William hill how many of the “big” names were out early to supposedly “no name” players???"
Alright then, for unlols. Here's how 2019 Ally Pally seeds lost in the Last 64. 13 of the 32 lost, including 11 of the Top 20.cannibal wrote: ↑Fri May 31, 2019 9:14 pmAs far as WC big names getting knocked out by no names happens rarely and the only no name who was a soft tip cunt who made it past 2 seeds was Reyes in I think it was 2015. Of course he may be referring to 2019 which was a bit of an anomaly in the number of seeds who went out. But many of those upsets where done by players who have had experience in the PDC system and even tho they might have been no names to this uselss soft tip cunt who posted the quoted material; the no names weren't certainly soft tip players.
2015: Cristo Reyes (Iberian Qualifier) -- Last 16cannibal wrote: ↑Sat Jun 15, 2019 5:05 pm Good job Rogg, my fat American ass was too lazy to go thru that.
The only unknown I can remember making legitimate noise was Reyes as an international player. As a UK unknown Kirk Shepherd. Feel like I'm missing someone else who went past two rounds... Someone chime in...
Of course Big Dev was far from a complete unknown at the time as it was his third Worlds and he had some other experience on TV too. Shout out to Kevin Munch who twice came through two games to make the last 32, with little more than a smattering of ET experienceRogg wrote: ↑Sun Jun 16, 2019 2:50 pm2015: Cristo Reyes (Iberian Qualifier) -- Last 16cannibal wrote: ↑Sat Jun 15, 2019 5:05 pm Good job Rogg, my fat American ass was too lazy to go thru that.

2014: Devon Petersen (South African Masters Champion) -- Last 16
Ally Pally players who were neither a seed nor a pro tour qualifier who beat a seed and then won another match to reach the Last 16 is a broader topic and worth a dig. Alcinas (Southern Europe Qualifier) and Jamie Lewis (PDPA Qualifier) did it in 2018. Both were card holders though.
Actual non-card holders reaching the Last 16 at Ally Pally is rocking horse shit rare. In the entire tour card era, Reyes and Petersen stand alone as far as I know. Always delighted to be corrected however!
No-one (apart from you!) ever remembers that it was Devon's third Worlds. He'd even beaten 29th seed Steve Brown two years before his long run.thegentle wrote: ↑Sun Jun 16, 2019 3:07 pmOf course Big Dev was far from a complete unknown at the time as it was his third Worlds and he had some other experience on TV too. The BDO men's ranking is full of the best Dutch talent.
That's like saying The best american basketball players are in euroleague.
Is this one of those "the top BDO players have to be great" sort of arguments?
