It could kill him but how do you leave Aspinall out of the 2020 Premier League?

Barney and Taylor both unretire. But yeah, there's no way Aspinall can be left out now, even though it's only March.

Re: Premier League 2019
I know it was only an 8 man event back then, but Nicho didn't get in after winning the Players Championship early in the year. Now Nicho happened to have an awful year after that (and importantly Barney will have fucked off by next year), but Aspinall may still have work to do, especially as the PDC/Sky might not be rushed into including someone still so inexperienced at the top level

He's definitely in now. Remember that Barney's out so there is a vacant place for sure.Rogg wrote:It could kill him but how do you leave Aspinall out of the 2020 Premier League?

Re: Premier League 2019
One or two more runs to a major quarter final and he's 100% in. Although I believe there's no way he won't be in right now.thegentle wrote: ↑Mon Mar 04, 2019 7:18 amI know it was only an 8 man event back then, but Nicho didn't get in after winning the Players Championship early in the year. Re: Premier League 2019
Yeah, I'd go along with that. I really rate Aspinall, he's been very good for a good many months now (and I've been super impressed with how he's been able to kick on from the Worlds where others have failed woefully), but I am still a little conservative when it comes to picking the young guns lolbojeru wrote: ↑Mon Mar 04, 2019 7:22 amOne or two more runs to a major quarter final and he's 100% in. This idea of 'contenders' has been turned on its head! Who's the big gun between Aspinall and Smith now, or Hopp and Barney?

It always was a good idea, the only thing letting it down is the points counting for the opponents.
Big changes on the way ! We've heard it before but it's different this time !!!! , I believe Bdo gonna grow x

Re: Premier League 2019
Looking forward to the big man playing. Him playing in the PL is one of the most surreal things you'll see this year.
The truth, however ugly in itself, is always curious and beautiful to seekers after it.

Re: Premier League 2019
And even that has its benefits, the contender games are proper competitive fixtures rather than exbos that nobody apart from the contenders themselves care about. Unless I'm misremembering, the exbo games they've had in the past in the Premier League definitely didn't have that same big match feelThe Ginge Reaper wrote: ↑Mon Mar 04, 2019 9:02 amIt always was a good idea, the only thing letting it down is the points counting for the opponents.

Re: Premier League 2019
It's early in the year, and we're talking about next year. If Nathan Aspinall's form goes down in the second half of 2019, I can easily see him NOT being included in the 2020 Premier League, especially with Barry Hearn being so worried about new players being ruined by a Premier League tour. So far, only Paul Nicholson is in that club of winning a PDC TV major since 2005 and not taking part in the Premier League, and I reckon that was largely to do with the Players Championship Finals being in late January back then instead of late November. Aspinall needs to keep up his great form in 2019 to be certain of getting in.

Re: Premier League 2019
You mean in 2009, after Wayne Mardle was pulled out with mumps? Yeah, there was no big match feel, but it was interesting to see new PDC players Mark Webster and Gary Anderson play in those exhibition matches, along with Robert Thornton who had been in the PDC less than a year in those pre-Q School times, and former PL players Dennis Priestley and Adrian Lewis. But there were no points on those matches and the tournament format felt a bit farcical by that point with all of Mardle's previous matches (9 weeks worth) being annulled as far as the table was concerned.thegentle wrote: ↑Mon Mar 04, 2019 11:03 amAnd even that has its benefits, the contender games are proper competitive fixtures rather than exbos that nobody apart from the contenders themselves care about.
