Not in Taylors prime.dartvader wrote:Not sure he'd have beat a prime Taylor but he'd have given him a good run that's for sure. Taylor gives you chances that you didn't used to get and hits bad scores at crucial times that he didn't used to. Either way Cross is phenomenal and I think will get better.thegentle wrote:Hard to tell for sure, but I think he'd have beaten Taylor in his pomp there. Granted Taylor wasn't relentless, but he did have his moments of magic, yet it didn't fluster Cross at alldartvader wrote:Cross was sensational there, better at the crucial times. Taylor too many scores of 45 and 60 at big times and the way Cross played there you're never going to get away with that. Hope Cross kicks on because I really don't think we've seen exactly what he's capable of yet. He's going to get better and MvG having things all to himself with Taylor going may not happen now, it shouldn't anyway. Defeat hasn't and can't harm Taylor's legacy but what this has done for Cross and darts in general is massive.
Even tonight Taylor had more 180s, just his consistency that's gone.

The production values of Sky and the PDC is insane. You'd think you were watching a boxing match in Vegas.

Re: 2018 Greatest Show on Earth
Theres going to be some amateur darts thingy on channel 4 but the production of that looks like something from the 70s. Won't be watching.in the gravy wrote:The production values of Sky and the PDC is insane. You'd think you were watching a boxing match in Vegas.

I cannot help but think the game has peaked, You can throw as much Voltage as you can at the game, but when there is no more Power the lights will eventually fade (and as a Darts fan it is a hard thought to take).

Re: 2018 Greatest Show on Earth
Too many 60s and 45s when trying to set a finish up or when Cross himself kicked off with a bad score. He just never used to let you off. Taylor in his prime would win but Cross would have his moments I don't think the score would have been reversed anyway.Randall wrote:Not in Taylors prime.dartvader wrote:Not sure he'd have beat a prime Taylor but he'd have given him a good run that's for sure. The pdc thought they had hit the jackpot when. Mvg came along to replace Taylor.wombles wrote:I cannot help but think the game has peaked, You can throw as much Voltage as you can at the game, but when there is no more Power the lights will eventually fade (and as a Darts fan it is a hard thought to take).
Cross is the icing on the cake.
MVG v cross next year is huge business.

I'd rather Cross won like he did than watch Taylor get to 6 sets and possibly have a chance to win and bottle it. Cross definitely deserved it, phenomenal stuff, never to be forgotten and not just for Taylor. Rob Cross take a bow, you were unbelievable tonight.
