Hope Cross kicks on because I really don't think we've seen exactly what he's capable of yet. He's going to get better and MvG having things all to himself with Taylor going may not happen now, it shouldn't anyway. Defeat hasn't and can't harm Taylor's legacy but what this has done for Cross and darts in general is massive.
Hard to tell for sure, but I think he'd have beaten Taylor in his pomp there. Granted Taylor wasn't relentless, but he did have his moments of magic, yet it didn't fluster Cross at all

Worst result for Darts unfortunately, I really like and rate Rob Cross, but no one will really care that Cross won it (beyond him and his family), as this was always Phils night, and always will be nomatter the result, very few will remember his name or who won this years title, as we are marking the retirement of the best darts player the game will ever see!

Rob is a cracking lad, but so few people want this result, that it will and can affect him long term! The most impassioned and polite response to a final ever!
Or, alternatively, you have Phil, the champion disappearing into the night.

You've got Cross-MVG for the next decade plus now, especially with the major trophy monkey off the back of Cross so soon.

The game won't miss him as much as it would have a few years ago but we won't see his like again. Love him or hate him no one can doubt he's the single biggest reason darts is where it is today. Building the product around his brilliance in the early days kept the PDC going and then when Hearn came along it just got even better.

I think you are going to see a bit of a domino effect now, given the money in the game. Barney and Ando will be next out the door.

Not sure he'd have beat a prime Taylor but he'd have given him a good run that's for sure. Taylor gives you chances that you didn't used to get and hits bad scores at crucial times that he didn't used to. Either way Cross is phenomenal and I think will get better.
