Sick of seeing Barry Hearn all over Facebook trying to sell tickets and urging people to watch the stream.

Nikki the glorified postman is an absolute fucking moron. How can he look at the game growing across Europe and think it's at saturation point?

Any talk of more pairs events or 'cricket' tournaments is such typical forum fantasy bullshit. Virtually nobody in the real world is interested in seeing pairs or weird format bullshit.

Viewing figures are dropping in the UK. I'm not really surprised though. There's more darts on TV than ever, so saturation is normal. However, I presume they are growing in other markets. Germany in particular. As a whole, the PDC are in rude health.

Messing with the format to drastic lengths will not reverse viewing figures. Other formats are too complicated. Part of darts's appeal is its simplicity - as Barry Hearn alluded to in that ITV documentary. People might flick on to see what "cricket" is all about, but they would not stick around.

Someone on here recently suggested they do a "shootout format", like they do in Snooker. I think that would work. It would be something a bit different, and would not require a manual to understand. It would certainly be a departure to the "best of 19" legs format that we get for most ITV events.

There is a whole world outside of Britain. Darts has never really cracked America for example. There is so much room for growth if the PDCs selling point of people coming to the darts for a drink and a laugh is utilized.
