Dublin Players Championship Entries
26 Sep 2011
THE PDC ProTour will continue in Dublin next weekend with two Players Championships and a PDC Unicorn Youth Tour event being held at the New Citywest Convention Centre.

The weekend will be played ahead of the World Grand Prix at the same venue, with Saturday featuring 99 players competing in the £35,000 Players Championship before the 13th Youth Tour event of the year is held.

Sunday will see 98 players take part in the second Players Championship of the weekend, with the field for the weekend including Phil Taylor, Adrian Lewis, Simon Whitlock, Raymond van Barneveld and reigning World Grand Prix James Wade as they all return to action after missing the Nuland weekend.

The field of PDPA members is joined by players from outside of the UK who can enter non-UK Players Championships.

Non-PDPA members can also enter the John McEvoy Gold Dart Classic Players Championship in Killarney on Sunday October 16 - for more information click here.

Players can also still enter the PDC Unicorn Youth Tour event in Dublin until 12pm on Friday September 30 by calling the PDC Head Office on 08712 501 180. Entry costs £25.

All games in the Players Championships will be the best of 11 legs, with the draw made at 11am following the close of registration and play commencing at 12pm.

No real surprise Doc, as the places for the rest of this year's majors get decided there'll be less pitching up to these.

Of course it is, nothing wrong with it

To be fair, was just reading last year the numbers were similar (just over 100), but yes the tourcard is a bit pants.

Clashes with the opening of the county season here in the north which would take a good few who used to go this out. Of the top of my head Martin Carville, Wylie, McGarry, Guerney, Felix and a few others who previously played in this weekend. With the split in the leagues up here you can only afford to drop one score to get an average so every week counts, not like before where you could miss/drop three

Delighted that Mardle has entered.

Shame to see the poor number of entries though, and will the likes of Stompe, Beaton and Osborne turn up having not qualified for the Grand Prix?

Err, yes?

By that logic, the weekends events will have only 32 players. Think about what you are saying, moron.

Not really, the three I mentioned obviously thought they'd be in the Grand Prix when they entered and the initial disappointment they might be feeling could sway them not to bother.

Still rubbish logic. They could win £12k and will have hotels and flights booked anyway.

None have yet qualified for Purfleet Doncaster yet anyway, they will want and try and do that.

Would be surprised if the three you mentioned were not there, flights, hotel etc would have been booked and paid for. By the way have sky announced who is to take over from Sid in the comms box at the WGP.

Sky will probably rotate the existing comms mate.

Fair enough, didn't realize none of them had qualified for the finals. On the subject of that, what do you think the minimum amount of money will be to qualify?

Hopefully use Eric a bit more, though I would imagine Mardle may get the gig

Pretty sure Mardle mentioned on Twitter (not directly to me) that the commentators will be:

Stuart Pyke
John Gywnne
Nigel Pearson
Eric Bristow
Rod Harrington
Wayne Mardle

Pyke and Mardle being the main two.
