But at the end of the day it's just one more. Not as if it was two to win a final, two in the same day or two in the same match with a double startMabbsy wrote:They so rarely happen in the amateur game so the gimps are entitled to a bit of a wankathon over it I guess.M H wrote:Can't see what all the fuss about this nine darter is about. According to the Awards Dinner there were 18 nine darters in the PDC last year. That's less than 1 for every 1000 legs.
A lot of great players have never achieved the perfect leg in competition, including several world champions.
Fitton had the bottle to hit a couple in the last three months. Good for him.

I look forward to that special achievement being hailed throughout the year without bile as and when it happens. I must admit that it did amuse me when claims that "the car will rust" were proven incorrect.

Re: British Deviant Organisation Dutch open
Martin Adams defied 9-dart hero Darryl Fitton to win his third Dutch Open title, whilst home favourite Aileen de Graaf triumphed too in Assen, Northern Holland.
Over 3,000 men and women players started in this year’s competition to battle for a total prize fund of over 30,000 Euros. One of the best tournaments on the BDO calendar can throw up many surprises as all players start from the floor. Scott Mitchell 2015 Lakeside Champion, was one notably casualty and the defending Champion, Ross Montgomery, although making it through to the Last 32 could not repeat his victory of last year.
The quarter finals saw England’s Darryl Fitton beating Ryan de Vreede 5-2; Daniel Verdonschot put out BDO No. 15 Pip Blackwell 5-3; Marcel Blik earned a semi-final place by putting out Jeffrey de Graaf 5-1 and Martin Adams secured his place beating Richard Veenstra 5-4 with an end average of 90.
So the stage was set for two fantastic semi-finals – Daniel Verdonschot v Darryl Fitton and Marcel Blik v Martin Adams and neither of these games disappointed with both Dutchmen making their TV debut in a major ranking event. First up was Verdonschot and Fitton. Fitton’s experience shone through on the big stage, displaying exceptional finishing which saw Fitton easily gain his place in the final with a 2 sets to 0 win.
In the second semi-final the other debutant Marcel Blik was up against two times former Dutch Open Champion Martin Adams and this was a slightly different affair. Blik settled into the game quickly as the first two sets were shared with six 180s between them. In the deciding set, Blik saw six match darts to put out Adams go begging, and in the sudden death leg, Adams held his nerve and hit the winning double to take his place in the final against old rival Fitton.
The crowd, both in the venue and watching on TV, knew they were in for a terrific final but little did they know what was about to happen. The first two sets went against the throw and in the 3rd set at 2 legs all Adams threw 6 perfect darts which put the crowd on the edge of their seats. However he couldn’t hit that perfect leg but took the set eventually with double 1. With the game at 2 sets to 1 in Adams’ favour, and 1-1 in the fourth, Fitton delighted all darts fans by hitting the perfect leg.
Having hit 2 180s, he stepped forward and after hitting treble 20, treble 19 he put his third dart in the corner of double 12. The Dazzler not only took the leg but also the keys to a brand new Skoda car. Incredibly, that would be the last leg that Fitton would win in the match, as ‘Wolfie’ won the next two legs to win the title for a third time and the 5,000 euro first prize.

Just found the semi final line up
Daniel Verdonschot vs Darryl Fitton
Marcel Blik vs Martin Harris
Two local lads having a good comp and two 50 something travellers.
Where is new talent? Teddy?

Bilik missed 5 or 6 darts to beat MA, and allegedly was averaging in the 90s throughout (I only turned the stream on for the final).
On the wider BD0 level the likes of Jamie Hughes and Pip Blackwell have emerged over the last 12 months. There's also a brave few good young players like Nick Kenny who split their time between the BDO and the PDC Youth Tour.
