Heysel Memorial Thread
Twenty nine years ago today, Liverpool fans rioted and killed 39 Juventus fans. A pitiful statement has been put up on the Liverpool FC website which more or less remembers the event as something that spoiled their night. That said, I am sure they will redeem that at the memorial service which will no doubt be taking place at Anfield later. Trouble is, I can find no information about what time it starts.
Does anyone know?

thieving murdering bastards
as per there site
Instead of leaving Brussels having seen our team lift a fifth European Cup, Reds fans travelled back to England having witnessed the deaths of 39 football supporters - including 32 Italian fans of Juventus, four Belgians, two from France and one man from Northern Ireland - following the collapse of a wall.

I almost missed that bit! Incredible. I wonder why they don't tell us how the wall collapsed? Witnessed is possibly the most inappropriate euphemism I've ever read.Noisycrowds wrote:disgusting statement on the site are they having a fucking laugh ,as it wasnt there fans we dont need and enquiry for the next 200 years

Re: Heysel Memorial Thread
from liverpools website
they should have said CAUSEDAs a mark of respect to those who died, club flags will be flown at half-mast all day, while a floral tribute was placed at the foot of the Heysel Memorial Plaque in the Centenary Stand at Anfield this morning.
The tragedy unfolded on May 29, 1985, at the European Cup final between Liverpool and Juventus, when what should have been one of the greatest nights in the club's history turned into a nightmare.
