Ploy or Sincere

Post by Justin Credible » Mon Jul 18, 2011 6:19 pm

While listening to the interview Paul Nicholson gave to sky after his win over Colin Osbourne it appears to me by being somewhat vocal and maybe outspoken especially towards taylor might not only be good for darts or the rivalry but could be seen as a great publicity ploy by him to get people talking about him, striking with the iron is hot so to speak.

He would obviously love a PL wildcard and his standings in the OoM is getting higher with each event and surely if his progress continues he would make an excellent addition.

We all know Taylor is the master of the mind games, is Paul trying the same ?

Listen again to the interviews Gaz, his personality is clear mate.

We didn't talk about Taylor last time on the record as at that time he couldn't. Next week will be interesting......

I have no doubt he meant what he said, but it served a double purpose in my opinion.

The publicity garnered due to this will certainly be a good thing should he continue to perform well.

His 2 televised victories over taylor gives him ample space to gloat and with sky latching on to this he is doing himself wonders keeping himself in peoples minds....all this could bode well for a wildcard.

That's a point Snakey made about Wes being so close, it applies to Paul here as well if sticks a fair few grand in the bank.

don't think he said what he did with the goal of it being a publicity ploy
or a mind game. to my ears, he was just talking and paul appears to have quite
a motor mouth on him. sure he can go on and on. would rather hear the honest
remarks by the likes of nicholson, painter and van barneveld than a lot of the
pap that gets spewed by the usual group of guys after they do their manhugs
or their pre match planetdarts "my opponent is such a good shooter. I've got
to play my game and hit my doubles if I can" crap interviews. not that there's
anything wrong with that, but the occasional "I'm going to eat your children"
followed by an ear being bitten off during the match. now there's a mind game
that might work.

Paul pretty much wears his heart on his sleeve and really does say it as he sees it. He was pissed off when Taylor started this spat and his management stopped him responding till now
