There's no time limit on a prosecution mate, unless the police were aware of the crime at the time. It kicks in from the time of the initial complaint as far as I'm aware.

if 12 people say something happened that doesnt prove anything beyond a reasonable doubt in the eyes of the law surely.

Savile had a lot of power and was friends with people in high places, even if his victims would have come forward it would not be taken seriously.

I don't believe that for a second. People are grossly overestimating the 'power' that he had. Yes, he was a household name in Britain, but I read on one of the darts forums that he had 'dirt on everyone, including military dictators'. Talk about exaggerating. He was an unknown outside of these shores.

He was seen as an eccentric, a bit of a joke figure really. There were many who admired him for his charity work, but that didn't make him untouchable. The idea of him being some evil genius or a mafia don that could silence anyone is fanciful at best.

Being a celebrity does not stop the police taking things seriously when someone comes forward and says that they were raped by the celebrity in question. It isn't like Jimmy ever had the power to phone his mates down the station and demand that they stop investigating him. Why would they? Famous people have gone to prison in the past and they will again.

For a prosecution to have a chance of success there must be more than an allegation mate. No jury's gonna convict on no more than gossip

Max Clifford's in court at the end of May on indecent assault charges going back almost 50 years mate.

The police probably know loads of men have touched your willy and wouldn't bother about one more!
