Re: For the older heads who remember the time of the split..
I was all for those splitting.
A few years before the split those fortunate enough to have the likes of british channels here in ireland could get plenty of comps, not as many as today but enough at the time, then Olly and his cronies did nothing , just sat back and waited for tv companies, sponsors etc to just come to them. They let the game start to die on its ass.
When every champion wanted to get more tv , exposure etc, these ignorant cunts at the bdo top table were too thick as shit to do anything so felt they had no choice but to split, then the bitter cunts tried to stop them from making a living for themselves and their families.................the very people trying to stop them were the very same people who claimed they did not owe them a living but used the courts to stop them making one for themselves.
I hope the all burn to death screaming in hell for eternity.
As we know the pdc went from strength to strength while the pathetic bdo not only did fuckall it got even worse.
Their tv exposure never got any better and is worse now than it was at the time of the split, the prize money is worse and also disproportionate in how it is broken down, the interviews are still from the bar, they have stuck with the obese racist, the clueless fossil that is tony Green and now they have this rule stopping the ordinary player from competiting in the pdc while allowing their prize golden boys to play in the GSoD.
Why because they are afraid in case they fuck off, look at how Tony O Shea was made captain of the England squad lately.
I am glad they are losing the BBC and here to hoping that ESPN fuck them off, afterall its what the bumboys really want, you know how they hate too much darts on TV

Re: For the older heads who remember the time of the split..
doesnt seem that long ago, hard to believe its 20 years.
it was a huge gamble. but one i was delighted to see happen.
the fans now owe everything to the players who broke away, and fought the bdo with their own money.
left to the bdo we would still have 9 evenings of tv darts a year and most of the household names now would be binmen.

The split was an opportunity missed by the BDO. There was clearly a need for action as darts was dying on it's arse as far as TV and money in the game was concerned.
Had Olly and his boys worked with instead of against those that wanted to move the game forward who knows how a unified game would have progressed

The rebels paved the way for darts as we know it
Risked their houses, livelihoods

Is there a point to bumping ancient threads?

Nothing wrong at all in digging up some of the old stuff, it's a good read especially when the shrooms were claiming that things would get better for the shipwreck aka The BDO
