Saturday 20th May 1995.

Another FA Cup final. Neverton v Man United, 1995.

ITV has a preview of Wednesday's Champions League final: Ajax v AC Milan.

10.30pm on BBC2: 'Look at the State We're In' starring Rik Mayall and Adrian Edmondson. I don't know it. Looks like its episodes are only 10 minutes long.

20 years ago this evening.

Arsenal beat Man United in the first FA Cup final to be decided by penalties. Lauren, Ljungberg, Van Persie, Cole and Vieira - 5 out of 5 penalties, bewm.

Later that evening, the 9th episode of new Doctor Who - 'The Empty Child'. Guest starring Richard Wilson, 5 years on from One Foot in the Grave.

The Doctor and Rose arrive in 1941 during the London Blitz, where they find the city being terrorised by a child in a gas mask asking for its mother...

An American tv guide cover for Randall.

March 1972. 9 Columbo films had been aired in the US at this point, the most recent being 'Blueprint for Murder' in the previous month.

It is a difficult one. I'd never take his responses seriously.

Saturday 19th July 1997.

Apparently this was the original UK airing of Columbo: 'Strange Bedfellows'. Starring George Wendt, who died this week. ITV at 9pm. Its original US airing was May 1995.

Channel 4 has a queer night from 11.25pm. Graham Norton is involved. He will be in Father Ted in the following year.

Thursday 24th May 1956.

69 years ago today. The first Eurovision Song Contest is held, in Switzerland. It features 7 countries with 2 songs each.

The UK has no entry but BBC TV does partially air it, with commentary by Wilfrid Thomas. They begin coverage after 45 minutes, in a programme they call 'Grand Prix of the Eurovision Song Competition'.

Barely any footage exists but the audio does, from a radio broadcast.
