PDC Order of Merit or Points System?
Some debate about the World Championship being too weighted towards the OOM and some fans have talked about a point system instead which could give a *Better* form guide for players than an OOM would do.
Are you in favour PDC Order of Merit or would you be in favour of a Points System
I would assume that a points system would work along the lines of this
World Championship: 2,000 for the winner,
World Matchplay: 1,500 for the winner
UK Open, Grand Slam, PC Finals, Euros: 1,000 for the winner
500 for Euro Events
250 for Players Championship
And it would be tiered down obviously (I'm sure they would be a better and more logical system than the one i put out)
So what's your thoughts?
Golf uses a points system and so does Tennis and we know the idea for darts to be like those two sports. Snooker is OOM based.

Mind you, if the qualifying criteria for events was fair, the issuer would be much less important. Humphries or Littler on top, it doesn't actually matter. So I do think the rankings could be improved multiple ways but they are also not the main issue.
The truth, however ugly in itself, is always curious and beautiful to seekers after it.

There is a points system already, points are pounds.

Like a separate points system would create agreement that issues have ended. At least money shows money.

A weighted point based system seperate from money can only make sense given how disproportionate one event will now be.

It's all PDC, not local competitions paying a fee to be ranked.
The money reflects the importance of the tournament.
If I were to do anything it would be to weight the money so that recent earnings are more valuable.

Re: PDC Order of Merit or Points System?
The only difference being Golf and Tennis don't have a world championship, so it's a slightly different set up although I do think a points system would potentially favour players in form rather than those that have 1 good tournamentoche balboa wrote: ↑Wed Apr 09, 2025 9:10 am Some debate about the World Championship being too weighted towards the OOM and some fans have talked about a point system instead which could give a *Better* form guide for players than an OOM would do.

There isnt going to be a points system of any value as snooker has proven.

Maybe the world champion should automatically be world number 1 which this practically guarantees
